On our way from Phoenix to silver city, mm, stopped for a brief visit. It has a dirt road for a loop drive but our rental sedan did just fine. Just driving the loop was about one hour. Very pretty and lots of saguaro cacti. There are numerous hiking trails we didn't do. Nice welcome center. It was a nice... More

The National Park Service does not disappoint in providing a great experience in our natural resources. The Saguaro cacti are majestic...it's such a unique kind of "forest". Really enjoyed the easy walk on the Valley View trail and the Signal Hill trail. Got spectacular views and got up close and personal to the cacti.

If possible take Ben Callahan's 90 minute walk and talk. I think the title is Desert Discovery or the like. The information we received made us see the cacti and other plant life here in a completely different light. The visitor center and the car loop tour are excellent and there are numerous longer hikes. Be prepared for lots of... More

It starts with the drive into the park when you can see the cacti towering over the desert floor. Then when you get the chance to walk among the Saguaro and other cacti species it is truly AWE inspiring what can grow in the desert. Spent an enjoyable day hiking various trails and in the visitors center which has friendly... More

Once again the National Park Service does a wonderful job of revealing the natural wonders and history of our country. The Saguaro Cacti are truly amazing to walk among; as are the all the other cacti species. My only regret is not being able to see the cacti blooming in the spring. Really worth a visit if you're in the... More

We visited the West side first and thoroughly enjoyed the drive on the dirt road through the park. Saw lots of different cacti and several in bloom with large orange/red blooms - stunning!! Walked the nature trail and heard lots of different birds singing. It was all so peaceful. The visitor center was staffed with very friendly and knowledgable people.... More

Totaling over 40 miles, EIGHT hiking trails are open to the traveler to enjoy and to be up close to these unique cacti which are unique and only grow in southern Arizona and northern Mexico. Established in 1916, Saguaro West/Tucson Mountain District will be soon celebrating its first century of oohing and aahing the public. These almost-human shaped cactus can... More

I was in Arizona for business. I had an extra day to do some hiking. I got to the West side before sunrise and was amazed at what I saw. The saguaro cactus were stunning. So many of them. Also there are a lot of Barrel and Cholla cactus. As This side of the park was smaller than the east... More

Saguaro National Park is definitely worth visiting to see the giant cactuses. We were there in September so it wasn't very hot. There are apparently two parts of the park on either side of Tucson. We visited the west park accidentally just by going west on Interstate 10 through Tucson and getting off at the first sign we saw. The... More

Upon arriving at the Welcome center we were greeted by A. Barn, who was very helpful and provided us with a map and explained everything to us including the movie that was being shown. The display in the center of the room was very helpful in showing the different types of cactus and the wildlife that we may encounter on... More
