I'm not sure if you still can, but it was the best tubing once the lake froze. There's a frozen... read more

You can take a shuttle to the trailhead and then it is a very easy walk to and around beautiful bear lake. It can be crowded, but it's extremely picturesque. It's also a starting point for other trails to places like Alberta Falls and Emerald...More

I'm not sure if you still can, but it was the best tubing once the lake froze. There's a frozen water fall on the far side too. Don't discount going here in the winter. It's a whole new world!!

The bear lake trail was around one mile long circling the lake. Few of the trees have changed the color.

Extremely easy walk that members of all ages can perform easily. I saw people pushing strollers, the elderly with their walking sticks, you name it, I saw it. It is such a beautiful place to go. I am not sure if I spent more time...More

9/18/15 Ended up going solo for fall color pics and got great results. Aside from the parking lot being full and needing to take the shuttle it was perfect. Blue skies and light wind. The trail is easy and the view is incredible. There's a...More

If you only have one or two days, just skip this place. It is really over rated. I'm a photographer, not sure why people give this place so high rating. Maybe it is the only lake in Rocky mountain NP or maybe the bus is...More

A no brainer, definite must do. Even if the sign says the lot is full, it is worth checking out the parking lot if you are feeling lucky, else take the bus, it is no problem. Bring your camera for so many scenic vistas. An...More

It is a easy short walk from the parking lot or shuttle stop. Great scenery. We took the shuttle because the Bear Lake parking lot was full. The free shuttle ride was easy and convenient.

Hello, The only issue that I can think of is the snow fall up in the mountains by December and some of the roads in the park maybe closed by then. It's a fairly easy walk but the weather concerns me.

Depending on when you plan to visit, the closest campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park are Glacier Basin and Moraine Park. Aspenglen would be another option in RMNP. Do a Google Search for RMNP campgrounds and you... More

In case another person sees this, the trail around Bear Lake had about 60 inches of snow on the ground on March 16. That amount of accumulated snow is normal in winter and early spring. Sneakers are NOT adequate because... More
