The trail to Nymph Lake is only 1.1 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 245 ft. It's an easy trail to a small, picturesque lake covered with lily pads. We hiked beyond Nymph Lake to Dream Lake for a longer hike and views of another lake.

After Bear Lake we wanted to go on a small trail, one of which leads to Nymph Lake. We chose that spontaneously!
What you need to know beforehand, but I didn't know, is that the path is constantly steeply uphill. 20 minutes! At least that's how long it took me. I even had to take a short break along the way.
We stayed up there for almost an hour because it was so beautiful! First we admired the many water lilies, then walked halfway around the lake and then we sat on a bench and watched chipmunks and interesting blue birds.
The path up to Nymph Lake is worth it. If you don't want to or can't exert yourself that much, you should limit yourself to Bear Lake, which is no less beautiful! The combination was great for us, even if I was pretty out of breath on the way up.

About 7.5 miles hike (moderate to strenuous) to hike: Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, Emerald Lake, and take a side trip to Haiyaha Lake and Jewel Lake. Each of the lakes past them. Highly recommend Jewel Lake.

Read this review in conjunction with Bear Lake Trailhead. It explains park access, parking, reservations and available trails.
Nymph Lake is the second stop on a four lake hike that begins with Bear Lake at the ranger station and parking lot. All four lakes require a one-way 1.8 mile hike. Nymph is at the .5 mile marker. The climb is relatively easy, which is why you will find the most amount of people on this section of the trail. Half the people hiking wear masks while the other half turn away as they pass you. Some even stop and step off the trail to keep a six foot distance.
Nymph Lake is beautiful, but it is the least impressive of the four. It's closer to a lily covered pond than a lake. Stop here for a few pictures and a brief rest, but definitely move on to other two (Dream and Emerald) that are spectacular.
I found a pair of Mallard ducks hanging out here. It was fun to watch them swim around the lily pads. Steller's Jay were everywhere.

This is the first lake of the triad on the Emerald Lake Trail — about 1/2 mile on the trail and at a 200 feet elevation gain — at this point an easy hike. It was covered with water lilies and vegetation and little murky. But it was relatively average when compared to the other two lakes - Dream and Emerald.

Nymph Lake is the first of three lakes along the excellent Emerald Lake Trail in the Bear Lake section of the park. While only 0.5 miles (0.8k) from the trailhead, it is a fairly steady climb at an altitude that makes for a moderate hike. While the lake is pretty enough, full of lily pads and surrounded by mountain views, the best is yet to come with Dream Lake in another 0.6 miles (1.0k) and Emerald Lake, another 0.7 miles (1.1k) beyond Dream Lake, if one still has legs for the continuing gentle but steady climb.

On the trail to Emerald Lake, this is the first lake you will reach. I would say the view was incredible but the day we hiked the fog was so thick you could see very little. Still this lake was probably the best in the fog. It is the lake with the most vegetation in the lake. Again I wish I could have seen the view but it was also neat to see in the fog.

The lake itself is not huge, but has lots of lily pads to see. The hike to and from the lake is fun and full of good sights.

This is the first lake you would see along the emerald lake trail (if you exclude bear lake). I liked the flowers that are floating on the surface of the lake! Also, you can overlook the lake while you are heading to Dream or Emerald lake.

This walk from Bear Lake trailhead is a slight uphill and not too difficult. Still snowed under at the moment and would recommend using spikes/crampons for your shoes.
Saw a number of people trying this trail in sneakers and they slipping everywhere. The far side of the lake is the best spot for photos.
