This is an amazing drive, with a lot of places to stop and visit: The North Cascades Environmental Learning Center, the North Cascades Visitor Center, Diablo Lake, Ross Lake, and so many more. Take your camera and explore them all.

NCNP is a gem...a real gem and deserves a visit any time of year. We recently travelled to the park's Environmental Learning Center (ELC) and were thrilled to cross the Diablo Dam. What a sight! The Diablo reservoir provides water to those urbanites in Seattle. It's a wonderful component of the North Cascades jewel of a National Park. The ELC... More

This is an under rated and under visited park. Many nice stops to see great views and hikes. One reason it may be not as popular is that drivers go through on highway and if they don't stop at the visitors center, they are not counted. There are clear signs for places to stop and turn off but some advance... More

We did this drive as part of the Cascades Lake stopping frequently for pictures of the mountain lakes, cascading falls and mountains. Approaching from the west, we stopped at the Washington Pass overlook where we parked and walked along a ¼ pathway that offered sweeping views of the Methow Valley, Liberty Bell Peak and Early Winters Spires. Breathtaking! We continued... More

We took a road trip from Vancouver, BC in August 2016 and really enjoyed the day. Best viewpoints are along the way from the Visitors centre to Washington Pass. I like Diablo lake & Washington pass loop especially. Wish we could've stayed longer and taken more trails.

Rising spires of the north cascades mountain range, welcoming alpine lakes and waterfalls all make this drive remarkable. There are many spots along the way to stop and take a quick hike. On the west side the scent of the redwoods along the paths make a stop worthwhile. To truly appreciate this area it is essential to stop and do... More

Gorgeous scenery. But don't expect much in the way of services along this path. We did the Diablo Lake trail from the learning center to the other side and back up to the parking area on why. 20. It was a rough hike for me as I am not a lover of too much elevation gain. But it is beautiful.... More

Vacationed here for 5 days so we were on it twice daily as we went to and fro! Gorgeous scenery and waterfalls around many turns in the road that you happen upon before you know to stop. Seeing the snow still hanging around just made this our annual national park trip "snow consistent!" Lots of great hikes too. Watch for... More

We were surprised (and happy) over Memorial Day that there weren't more people making this stunning drive. Well worth the two hours up from Seattle and the best is that there are things to see going out and things to see coming back (as you drive East you see lake and scenery, but much of the mountain scenery you see...
