The three mile round trip hike from the parking lot to Bumpass Hell is beautiful. The trailing a little dusty. Wear layers it was 45F and a cold wind when we started. This is a popular trail and worth the visit.

Despite what the reviews, or what the National Park Service indicates on its signs. This is NOT a moderate hike, it was strenuous, extremely rocky and treacherous. I was accompanied by someone who just recently hiked part of the Pacific Coast Trail, and they said...More

Very well maintained hiking trail going to the Bumpass Hell attraction with many scenic spots along the way. It's 1.5 miles one way to the sulfur springs but worth the hike to see some very interesting ponds, mud holes, rocks, etc.

A great place to visit while you're in Lassen National Park. Not too strenuous of a hike (3 miles roundtrip). It's a bit chilly in the morning (I started at 6:30 am). Beautiful vistas and several places for stunning photography. You'll know when you're close...More

Save 1-2 h for this spot in Lassen Park. From the Parking lot there are ~600 ft/200 m elevation change to cover before reaching Bumpass Hell (and the same on the way back). Wooden broadwalks and platforms allow close viewing of the sulfur springs. Never...More

With only 300ft elevation gain this hike is good for most people and kids. Trail can get crowded on weekends so go early for parking. Make sure you bring your camera!

Lassen is a hidden gem in Northeast CA. It is still relatively uncrowded. Bumpass Hell is a wonderful geothermal activity visit area; it tends to get crowded since it is easily accessible, but is absolutely worth a visit.

View the beautiful mountains, stroll to the geysers and mud pots. Lassen Volcanic Park is like a miniature version of Yellowstone Nat'l Park. Spot the wildlife like deer, quail, coyote, etc.(we saw all 3).

An easy two kilometre walk each way with light grades on a good track. Good views enroute with the sulphur vents and boiling mud out of this world.

Not advisable to take a stroller on this hike. Trail is rocky, exposed to about 200 feet drops on several stretches and the last leg of the trail has smooth powdery and hence slippery sand and is a steep downhill to the... More
