Give it an average for the scenery, but way below average for the food. Don't expect service or efficiency. We didn't leave hungry, but could have. This was a stop on a great wildlife cruise and was the only disappointment of the trip.

My wife and I loved Fox Island. We stayed on the island for a few nights. It was great to unplug and relax in that incredible setting. The staff was terrific. They were all very nice and very helpful. Based on other reviews, I was not expecting the food to be great, but overnight guests had their own chef and the food was spectacular. All meals for overnight guests are set menus except that at dinner you get to choose between two proteins. Since the menus are set, picky eaters might struggle, but we loved the food. We went kayaking one night and two orcas swam by pretty close to us. We would definitely go back.

We visited Fox Island for lunch as part of the trip thru Kenai Fjord Tours and it was terrific. Really nice lunch with friendly staff and a little bit of beach time before we took off for more wildlife viewing. Well done, keep up the good work!

I worked on Fox Island during the summer of 2021. I wish I could exploit the treatment and misconduct of the island more but this is the best I can do. I would never recommend staying the night on the island to anyone. I cleaned the rooms personally and they are disgusting. There are articles of the room that are never washed for the entire summer. Don’t mistake that when the website say refers to individual cabins, it actually means the two duplexes and a fourplex. If you stay you’re gonna share the entire experience with your neighbors. The walls are thin so don’t count on privacy.
Although the chefs work hard to adjust to all food restrictions, sometimes you’re left with a pretty sad meal. For the price of $600 a night, it should be expected that you can count on a decent meal.
The treatment of staff is utterly terrible. None of us were trained at the beginning of the season. Not that the personal and professional treatment of employees is the number one concentration for guests on the island, but it’s important to mention that we were taking care of the guests all the while wanting nothing to do with it. Overall, I can say that the guest service is not authentic. This place is too expensive for what you’re getting. There’s so many other beautiful places in Alaska. You’d be better off staying at a motel.

Our tour of Kenai Fjords brought us to Fox Island for lunch. The lunch was either Salmon or chicken and it was average...filling but not great. Considering they have to ship the food in every morning, it was acceptable.

A place like no other. It rained the 2 days we were there but this did not spoil our time there. The accommodation was rustic, but had everything you needed. No plugs in the bedrooms but everyone charged their phones etc in the communal building. This was a wonderful space with a fantastic view of the bay. Books on wildlife and binoculars were all available for our use. This is where we were whale spotting and actually saw Orkas close in! We did kayak, but saw nothing! The meals were all provided and of high quality. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here as part of a fjords boat tour. The restrooms on the island were not functioning, and the smell was pretty rough. The food served was subpar. However, the guest speakers were nice and informative, and we enjoyed walking the pebble beach. But we could also have done without.

This was the hidden gem of the trip. We loved staying there. It was so tranquil, our group rented a boat for the day and we went out and saw glaciers, whales, birds, and NO people!
We also had a lovely Canoe ride. Great equipment and even lessons.

The meals were all perfectly displayed and delicious.

We chose to do the all day tour, with dinner on Fox Island. Could not have had a prettier day. Did not know what to expect & was looking forward to my dinner on an Alaskan Island, I mean salmon is king here, right? It was sadly disappointing To be truthful I liked lunch better than the much touted dinner. The salmon was just OK, I did not try the prime rib, the lemonade was barely drinkable, how do you screw up powdered lemonade mix? It's a lovely setting, they need to bump up the food.
Fox Island was neat, funny for me to walk on a "beach" made of smooth, flat black stones.
There is a gift shop for your Fox Island tchotchkes & a ranger talk.
Best part of the dinner was the still warm chocolate chip cookie you got when you got back on board.

We took a a day cruise with lunch from Seward to cover whale spotting and other wild life spotting. Lunch was arranged at FoxIsland and we truly loved the break. View of the natural spot with its pebble beach and lake on the other was super. Food was well balanced with ample choices and kids loved it.

A must have experience
