Just a few minutes up Marina Kea Road is the Bird Trail. It's about a mile loop through forests on a mostly flat gently rolling trail. It mostly shaded, beautiful foliage, many birds. We saw numerous Kalij pheasants. This trail is perfect for for parents...More

This is a great trail through an old growth stand of Hawaiian rain forest. You can walk the trail in 20 to 30 minutes. we took 2 hours as we would stop and just take in the ambiance.

uncrowded, kipuka trail. It is in the process of being restored to native plants. Lots of birdsong, but not many birds seen. Lots of interesting plants and beautiful flowers.

Did this short hike - again no other people - after we spent 3 hours on the desert trip across the road. Quite a change. Interesting large rainforest ferns. Did not see many birds.
