This is a windy road and the views are breathtaking. Remember your camera and take your time. Keep a sharp eye out for stopped cars and wildlife. There many hairpin turns. This is a great road to take if you are on a motorcycle

Sorry,no information on walking groups. I would check at the welcoming centers in the Great Smokey parks.

No only you can pull and hike but there is some overnight parking available too so that you can camp to see some exotics early morning scenery and animals.

The road should not be an issue except for the tunnels and I am not sure about the height restrictions. It is a nice road and has recently been repaved. There can be heavy traffic at times also.
