This is a nice "off the beaten path" hike to get away from the crowds right in the Smoky Mountains. The Cosby Campground is nearby, so you may run into a few groups of hikers but it's still an overall quiet hike. We started the...More

Our family (mom, dad, two 17-year old boys and an 11 year old boy) chose Hen Wallow based on difficulty (moderate), proximity to our cabin and the cute name. The hike itself was mostly in the woods, sometimes kind of overgrown (from lack of use?),...More

I've been to this Fall twice. Both times, I've really enjoyed the 4.2 mile (round trip) adventure. I like the wide easy trail way that leads to the falls. It's a great place to picnic by the falls with friends.

The moderate hike is tough. Lots of roots/rocks and steep inclines. Drove from Pigeon Forge area and GPS took us on a terrible drive (use map and basic instincts). When we found it there were not a lot of people and it was very quite...More

Went on a Tuesday morning in May at about 10:00AM. Only passed one other group on the way there and we had the falls to ourselves. On the way back, there were many more people. I would get there early for privacy and would imagine...More

This moderate hike requires quite a bit of effort due to the steep inclines/declines as well as dealing with mud (we were there right after a big rain), tree roots and rocks. You should definitely be prepared to stay hydrated and leave enough time to...More

I visited Great Smoky Mountains National Park for the 2017 Wildflower Pilgrimage and had the option to take a full day hike up Gabes Mountain Trail as one of the outings as part of the pilgrimage. Amidst all the exploring and wildflowers we stopped for...More

We have been to many of the falls in the Smokies and wanted to cross a couple more off the list on this trip. The trail to Ramsey Cascades was still closed, so we first went to Cataract Falls directly behind the Sugarlands Visitor Center...More
