We took a hike our to the Walker Sisters Cabin. Go to Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area and drive up to the Little Greenbrier School. The "trail"/road is a very easy walk 1.1 miles to the Walker Cabin. The spring house is dry but neat to see and the house is pretty cool as well. It's strange to think how many... More

The trip is at least half way uphill but a very manageable one. The road is a gravel one and the length is 1.6 one way. After the first half mile you will see the Greenbrier school and cemetary. Then you will take the gated road to complete the other 1.1 mile to the Walker Sisters cabin. The solitude was... More

This was a nice place to visit during our hike. Easy hike to get there. We even saw a bear along the way. Very nice piece of history.

2 mile hike with my senior citizen parents. It's level for the most part but does have a few short hills. Just take your time, take pictures, drink water and don't be in a hurry. It's a nice slow hike but very scenic. The homepage is interesting but not a lot to see. We spent maybe 20 minutes looking around.... More

We hiked from Metcalf Bottoms as the one lane gravel road was too scary for us to chance. We got an early start and were rewarded with having the place to ourselves. What a wonderful piece of history.

I loved hiking here and seeing what is left of the Walker Sisters cabin. Their family history is such a neat story. I would recommend everyone take the hike here to see some history and how people used to live ( and how short they must have been). Excellent craftsmanship though on this house and how it has withstood time.... More

Loved this hike to this beautiful place. Didn't love the road that was one lane leading up to parking area. Hike wasn't bad at all and was well worth it to see such a great old homestead..

Took this hike with our 4 and just-turned 2 year old. It's very toddler friendly as it's all gravel. My husband disagrees but I think with the right jogging stroller you could do it. We had our little one in a carrier, however. A little tip from a ranger, is you can park at the Greenbrier School rather than the... More

Enjoyed the history this place has to offer from the desk inside the old school to hiking back into the woods for a view of the cabins. Easy hike and less crowded than alot of other places inside the park.

We went up there and glad we did. The house is in great shape as are the other buildings that surround their farm. After walking the 1.1 mile to the house from the school house we got a good feel for what the kids did to go to school back in the day
