The Hopi house is beautiful and historic. The only problem with it is that there's so much for sale in every crevice of the place, that it takes away from the history a bit. I would like to see more information and less knick knacks. We were very lucky when we were there that there was an Indian tribal dance... More

They offered many unique handmade gifts for sale. These are handmade by native tribes so they are not cheap . There were other shops that offered cheaper prices as well. When we arrived they had a Native American show going on outside which was pretty cool. The Hopi house is right next to the El Tovar hotel .

My favorite building (gift shop) on the South Rim. Love the thick adobe walls and low ceilings. Speaking of ceilings, look up when you go inside. The ceilings are constructed out of twigs, branches and grasses. Very Native American. Several rooms to explore and lots of interesting things to buy. You might be lucky to catch a show outside the... More

Wow - in a manner of minutes we were treated to an eagle dance and a hoop dance by a very good indian speaker, explaining things about his people and the dances. Then we went inside to find a vast array of gifts from jewelry, to knives, to indian wear, pottery, and many, many other things - reasonably priced, too!... More

We were all surprised when we walked into Hopi House. It looked like another museum, or learning experience, but it turned out to be a neat space. It's a typical gift shop, but there's also some great art pieces and displays, and the building is beautiful, too. Each little room had something new to discover, and I ended up buying... More

I spent over an hour in this place. the displays and items for sale were endless and they just went on and on. Every so often I would be surprised at yet another look into the history of the building when (for example) I looked at the floors and found Navajo rugs painted on them everywhere. I'd look up and... Museum, artifacts and gifts with attentive assistance about Native American artists and their handiworks. A collection of all the arts from ceramics, jewelry, baskets, weaving, Kachinas, masks, leather and on. The two-floor gallery is literally chock full, and the building historic in itself.

This building will definitely stand out when you are walking on the Rim trail due to its unique structure. Built along the lines of Indian settlements this place beckons a visit on your walk along the canyon. The inside is something which will surprise you. Its a perfectly lit up antique gift shop. Mostly handicrafts made by local Indians, the... More

We stopped in while walking along the rim and were glad we did. The shop is very interesting and nicely laid out. There is much to see so plan to be there a while to truly get to see everything. The building itself is something to see! Well done.

If you are visiting the south rim of the Grand Canyon, Hopi House should get a visit because it is a wonderful example of the thoughtfulness that went into the original buildings designed for the south rim. Colter was a terrific architect and interior design specialist and we should be grateful for her attention and her eye.
