Our group had allotted about 4-hours to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. In order to get an idea of what to see and do during our limited time we stopped at the Visitors Center and talked with one of the Rangers. Like always the Rangers were very helpful and told us the one thing we had to do was take the trail down to Bright Angel Point. The trail begins at the North Rim Visitor Center and according to the Rangers the trail is rated as “Moderate” The maintained dirt trail to the point is about a mile, give or take. For the most part you are descending from the Visitors Center to the Point, so the return trip is mostly up hill and a little strenuous for out of shop people like me. There are a number of benches and place to rest along the way. Be sure to take water with you, especially during the summer as there is not concessions along the way. The entire length is filled with amazing views. Because the North Rim is less crowded than the South Rim you can take your time and enjoy the views without being rushed by other visitors. All total it took me about 90 minutes to complete the round-trip hike because I stopped at every opportunity to take photos and enjoy the breath-taking views. I was able to take my time and enjoy the amazing views.

This view point is great from all perspective. 1st it has a great view of the Grand canyon itself. There are coffee and snack shop nearby. The washrooms are good. There is a small museum (free!). I think, people should spend some extra time in this place..

If you are not afraid of heights and don't mind walking on a trail with no railing this is an amazing view point to visit! It is a great place to get some good pictures of the Canyon.

We tried this hike with a target of the 1.5 mile stop, but this was easy going down with excellent views and several long horn sheep. Great photos and a tough walk up.

This is an easy trail with outstanding views. A must do. Some stairs and steep inclines, but very doable.

There are 2 viewpoints close to the lodge. A must see view. Easy to hike to them, some steps. Cooler in the early morning or late afternoon.

Pretty much the only thing to see at the north rim. Very crowded. Tough to get parking close by. The trail itself was a bit rough especially if you're not used to the elevation. Had to stop and catch my breath a few times. Some areas are pretty close to the edge which can be nerve wracking too.

Definitely worth a pause to take the short trail down to the overlook. Great views looking down over much of the Bright Angel Trail. Stop and soak in the views!
