This time we sent to first Lodge which was good decision as mixed ability group, still lots of fun and challenge. Met an 80 year old doing Rim to Rim walk on her way back, impressive.

All the talk of the drive in and the wildlife cannot be stressed enough.. if it's dark you better slow WAY down, you'll never see a black cow on the road at night and it is open range... There are fairly large parking areas, the trail is paved, very easy but you are still pretty high and there are up's... More

A short walk from the parking area, this is a great view and can be a spectacular sunset. Worth the time and effort.

Bright Angel was our second viewing stop. I would say Mather Point is slightly better but Bright Angel is also very good. This was much busier than Mather Point. It is an hotel with quite a large gift shop, a bar and restaurant and a small snack bar - again could not take advantage of any of these due to... More

While the Bright Angel Trail may be too difficult for some visitors, the views from this point are marvelous and it is very easy to access. Either by walking along the Rim Trail or by arriving on the shuttle bus.

If you do not hike into the canyon this is the place to see the trail from above. If your timing is right you can see the mule train going to the bottom of the canyon.

About a half hour trail from the lodge. No difficulties if you take your time and watch your step around one point where the path narrows slightly. People with fear of heights should be fine, there is no danger. The views are many and varied and without exception, spectacular.

It is amazing to see the sun come up over the canyon and then hit the canyon walls to the west. A breath-taking experience and Bright Angel Point is the perfect place for it. About a half mile hike out but paved and relatively safe (there are always drop-offs in places when you are in the canyon). Great place for... More

My wife and I happened to visit on a rainy day in September. Never saw the sun, but I wanted to show my wife the point. Had been there 25 years ago. So we took the hike in the pouring rain. As we made our way to the point, we could not see any of the canyon due to the... More
