Sunset was fire!

This was a cool spot. You could see very far and we came at sunset. The sky was beautiful but the coolest part was seeing all of the jagged tops and massive plateaus that went on for miles! Sat on a bench and enjoyed the quiet

Worth doing

Nice drive and ample parking once getting to Point Imperial. Had good weather and it seemed like we could see 150 miles away. I did this as the last stop at the Grand Canyon.

Holy mackerel, is this place beautiful!

This was my favorite spot on the North Rim. It's the highest spot you can drive to on the North Rim, ~8800' above sea level. So be careful, the air is pretty thin. But the views are incredible, wide open views to the east and south-southeast. Very different than the more conventional views back at the Lodge. Really enjoyed this one. If you're pressed for time, it's a shorter option than the drive to Cape Royal and just as beautiful. But make time and do both!

Stunning scenery from Point Imperial

My wife and I took the drive out to Point Imperial and then on to Cape Royal. Point Imperial is the highest spot on the North Rim at 8,800 feet elevation. The drive has some really stunning views of the Park. We were there early in the morning and had the place to ourselves. If you have the time be sure to go to Point Imperial and then on to Cape Royal.

AMAZING

I wasn't quite sure what to expect going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, I was in awe.
Previous experience was a helicopter out of Vegas, to the river, and a short "boat' ride...which was great also. But I feel like now I have really seen the Grand Canyon. It's more amazing than I can say,

On a clear day, you can (almost) see forever

This is one of the few drives to take on the North Rim. The road to Pt. Imperial is off of the main road (Rt. 67) into the park. The view offers a panorama of the northeast side of the Grand Canyon and the cliffs and plateaus beyond. Far to the east is Navajo Mt. and Lake Powell, while to the north is the Vermilion Cliffs and the Grand Staircase-Escalante in Utah. A great place for photo ops. A few benches, picnic tables and restrooms make it a good place for a leisurely stop.

Great Overlook

Imperial point is one of the best place to see the overlook of the canyon

This is very easy point to access but road is narrow winding. When we get there there were only 3 people in the place so it was very calm and beautiful

Couple this with drive to Cape Royal

If you are driving out to Cape Royal, it is pretty easy to also add this spur to your trek. I found Cape Royal to be more impressive, but this is the shorter drive. As well, if you aren't able to get out of the car and walk much, Point Imperial has views right from the parking lot.

Worth the drive-time for the Greatest of the Southwest Canyons

Point Imeperial is worth the drive-tuime investment. I have been here multiple times at different time(s) of the day. The angle of the sun greatly affects the canyon lighting and colour. The only time that this site was not a magnificent fiew was when we visited during a time when smoke from forest fires in California had basically filled the canyon and the visibility was not good.
