This 8-mile stretch of road boasts a number of stunning views of the Canyon. Do it by car, foot or during peak season, May to September, by bus: shuttles run by the Park Service that stop at key points and allow you to hop on and off at your leisure.

With small children somewhat nerve wrecking - they need to be really well behaved and not take off on their own, or you might find them down the cliffs. For elderly with sturdy footwear and steady gait, a walk between two or three bus stops...More

There are some great overlooks along the Hermit Road, but the only way to get to them with small children is to use the shuttle system. It can be horribly crowded. Our five year old daughter could not handle standing in a crush of people...More

My advise is hike the rim trail as much as possible, Then either drive the south rim drive to Navajo Point and the watchtower and back or else take the shuttle bus and go out the Hermit Road. You can get off and on the...More

This road will blow your breath away. Beautiful views from scenic view points with parking alongside the road. We did it in winter as it was close in spring. A must do if someone has the opportunity to do it

Take the red route bus and see all looking points, or rent a bike or walk, I recommend renting the bike.

We went out on this road using the park service's free shuttle system and we were not disappointed. We stopped at 6 of the 9 stops on the way out to Hermit's Rest and I think the best views of the canyon can be seen...More

The road is closed to cars. Just park vehicles and busses. You will have tons of room.

It's $30 per vehicle, good for all occupants and for one week from date of issue. That's until until you hit the gift shops! All the views are free.
