Love the history movie shows and maps showing how to get around and all about the hiking trails, especially distances and difficulty. Access to free shuttle buses is a great way to get around and avoid traffic.

The General Store is fantastic! They have lots of supplies and various food to make your trip complete. We bought a nice ready made meal here as well.

The choice of foodstuff and other products, as well as clothes, camping gear and souvenirs would be amazing anywhere, but is especially so in the middle of nowhere.

Grand Canyon Village is a must. The walk surrounding the area is beautiful and very easy access. There are many things located in this area. Be sure to see the mules and Bright Angel trail.

The village is like a lesser Tombstone or Old Tucson. It's convenient, as it's right by the rim and there are nearby stables to ride horses over to the rim.

There were lots of people with dogs on leashes when we were there so I'd say the answer is yes. Make sure you have a really good leash because there are a lot of places with no guard rails.
