Ideal for the sunset. This is not as crowded as other view points but yet offers equal or even better view of the canyon especially during the sunset time. Ample parking spaces available. Recommended if you want to enjoy the sunset in more tranquil setup,

This was our first stop and was maybe my favorite. The first time you see the canyon is a special moment. Even more so when you see the wide eyes of a 10 year old as his jaw drops in awe. He almost couldn't contain his excitement. With this being our first stop we were 1 of may a dozen people at this location which also made it special. I would recommend this as your first view of the canyon as it gives you good one. It also can be a little less trafficed that some of the other locations.

Overall you can never replace the first time seeing the canyon or the moment that all expectations of a 10 year old are blow out of the water.

I've been here many times, but I would definitely recommend choosing this place for your first contact with the Grand Canyon.
At Mercer Point, there are fences and too many people, which I feel dims the grandeur of the Grand Canyon.
There are not many people at this point, so you can enjoy the unvarnished view of the Grand Canyon.
I think it's a good idea to start from here and explore various other points.

Located on Desert View Drive along the way from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center to Yaki Point, this is a nice little stop off with a pretty spectacular view. There is parking on the north side (rim side) of the road, and the Rim Trail provides a nicely paved path for looking out into the canyon.

We drove to all the vista points on the way and all of them gave an amazing view of the canyon and this one was no different

Worth a stop here, but not the most spectacular views. Great spot for lunch though. Or use this shuttle stop to begin a walk back to the village.

Nice but not as spectacular as some of the other observation points as this is a section where the rim indents rather than projects into the canyon.

On the way back from South Kaibab Trail, the Orange Shuttle Bus makes a stop on this small vista with grand views of the canyon and evergreens that grow below and on its cliffs. Stay until the next bus arrives...it's plenty of time to take in the views and frame worthy pics!

The Pike Creek is the first stop on the Orange Shuttle Bus Line. The views are spectacular. If you have the stamina you can walk back to the Visitors Center
