Had an interesting tour riding the mules. The mules drive themselves. We took the rim canyon visa tour, which had great views until the clouds rolled in with zero visibility. Weight limits on riders.

The canyon is unbelievable no matter what, but sprinkled with snow and viewing it from the back of a mule is special experience. Lots of fun knowledgeable people we met from the shuttle drivers to the ranch hands. Just bring your camera (with a strap) and that's it as they'll provide everything else!

Overall a very nice trip, nice way to see the grand canyon. Phantom ranch, reviewed separately, is fantastic. usually reserved 13 months in advance, we got lucky and by calling everyday filled a cancelled slot about two week ahead of our trip. 3/4 in our party and 1/3 in the other party got mild food poisoning, everyone who ate the... As part of 25 wedding anniversary trip. Went to Grand Canyon and booked mule ride. We followed a trail overlooking rim. Great views. Snow on ground and weather was in high teens but great ride.

One of the most fun things I have ever done! Left out early and rode down the steep south side to the river bellow! What a rush! Ate a wonderful supper and slept like the dead, Woke up early, Ate a huge breakfast and rode out! The wrangers were the best and the mules sure-footed, The landscape is awesome! Once... More

My daughter-in-law and I did this trip on a beautiful fall day. Our trip was on Halloween (October 31) and we returned to the rim on Nov 1. It was cool at the top, but about 80 degrees when we arrived at the canyon. I was really concerned about what to wear. So, here is the what I wore: bike... More

We had a great time and believe this is the best way to see Grand Canyon! We did the overnight trip and did a short hike on our own before dinner on the first day and it was great. The hike was a great way to stretch our legs after being on the mule so long; plus it provided some... More

The trip is well organized with safety being the biggest issue. This trip is not for everyone. A 5 hour mule ride down some steep trails. It was amazing and at no time did I feel concerned despite the steep terrain. We spent the night at Phantom Ranch, was served both a big steak meal and a big breakfast. We... More

My wife and I booked our overnight mule ride 13 months in advance. You have to "weigh in" the day prior to your adventure because of the 200 lb. weight limit. Everything was explained prior to being assigned our mules. The trip was fantastic! The views were awesome! We stayed overnight in a clean, rustic cabin. The food was good.... More

I think this activity is relatively new.......you can experience a mule ride without having to invest 2 whole days. They have two mule rides a day that take, with everything involved about 3 1/2hours ( 2 hours of actual riding). It was a blast and the views along the Rim are spectacular. The guides are wonderful and full of all... More
