Word of mouth has that the more remote, harder to get to and therefore less crowded North Rim offers a more authentic Canyon experience and better views. However, there is no bus service on this rim and it is closed during the winter.

The North Rim has a peaceful rustic vibe that is very different than the South Rim. You find yourself in Ponderosa Pine forrest, and the temperature is decidedly cooler than the South Rim.Lodging is available at the Grand Canyon Lodge, a historical "railroad lodge"built when rail was the only way to get to the park. Abeautiful campground is also available.... More

Words are so misleading when you describe this wonder. Every angle every step gives you a different view, this is such an incredible experience.

The Grand View hike at the east end of the south rim is a fantastic hike-tough, but manageable. Going down to Horseshoe Mesa took us about 2.5 hours and up was 2 hours. We heard that it takes about double coming up as going down, but wanted to challenge ourselves to see if we could beat it. Definitely take water-it's... More

I would highly recommend this side of the canyon. A lot less crowded and very relaxing. Beautiful vistas here as well. Can hike out short distances to see more of the canyon. We hiked down to the river and back and it was a wonderful experience!!! Takes a couple of days but was worth it!! What a wonderful place. The... More

When I was eight, my mother thoroughly researched our visit and determined to avoid the July crowds at south rim and directed our family of six here for two nights camping. It was a life changing experience! Many people say the views of the canyon here are superior to the south rim's. After having read Marguerite Henry's "Brighty of the... More

Marked another item off my bucket list. You don't realize how tiny you really are until you stand next to this giant crack in the ground and think about it.

We visited in September. 2 adults and one dog. Cannot take dog on trails but can walk dog around the area. So we took turns on trail walk out out for view. The sides along trail drop away so a bit overwhelming. Not crowded. Obtained take out food from the resort cafe and was very good. Staff very helpful. We... More

My husband and I worked up here for 10 seasons; May through October. Much less congested than the South Rim. On this side there is the Kaibab Squirrel. From a distance he almost looks like a skunk, with his pointed ears and fluffy white tai. He is not the same on the South Rim. There is a beautiful lodge here... More

I love the Grand Canyon. The park service does a great job moving visitors from spot to spot. I would never drive, use the busses. Parking is tough. I stayed at the lodge and never moved my car, didn't need to. Take plenty of water at all times.

If was here 10 years ago! If you don't want to take a helicopter tour you can go to skywalk which is stunning! Stunning view and feeling. Worth to get the tickets. Unless you have a little fear of the height, which I have :) despite worth it.
