We were warned about going into the abyss. Make sure you are prepared for the hike. We went to the 3 mile marker. Six mile total. It rained and snowed on us but the hike was worth it. The view was unbelievable. Make sure you pace yourself and have plenty of water. The water taps don't work in the spring.... More

Yes, I said "pain". I just got back from a Spring Break trip to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. I was not physically ready. I haven't been very active since high school. So, out of 18 students, I was the one in the back of the line. Thankfully, I had two of the group willing to walk with... More

My group took two days to hike up the Bright Angel trail from the river, camping one night at Indian Garden. It's a beautiful hike, and I highly recommend bringing enough water and food because some of the water isn't available in the winter and spring. It's a very rewarding hike, one step at a time. I also recommend leaving... More

There are signs that say use icy foot gear and you should!! I busted my but sliding on that ice and I had on hiking boots. My husband busted his too and his... More

It's a little more of a trip, but well worth it! Listen to the wind rushing through the pines, fewer people, gorgeous vistas. Higher elevation makes for cooler temperatures and more pleasurable walks.

The trail is behind the bright angel lodge at the canyon. We woke to a foot of snow so we did but grapplings for our boots. We only hiked 1.5 miles down and back up. Going down was much easier lol. The views were amazing with the snow peaks and green inner canyon. Trail was well marked. Very peacefully l... More

Pretty easy hike. Bring plenty of water and salty snacks. Use the bathroom before going! There's only one spot of with three bathrooms and the line can be painfully long. Going down is easy - just remember you need to make it back up! Trail is safe and a short hike can be done in tennis shoes, although I'd recommend... More

What's good about this is that it has 'rest spots' on the way down so you don't feel like you're forced to go too far especially if not feeling up for it! Beautiful views of the stunning Grand Canyon and would definitely go back!

I did the down and back up in 4:45. It is about 18 miles and you drop and then gain close to 4600 feet on the round trip. Most seem to Camp down and then head back the next morning. It all depends on endurance and hiking experience. I hike a lot in CO....so the trek was long but you... More
