The wildlife viewing is excellent. if you rent bikes plan on at least 3 hours to make the circuit. We are in our 30s, in excellent shape, cycle frequently, and in order to return bikes by 5 we rode fast and it took us a FULL two hours to do the circuit. We did some stopping for wildlife viewing and... More

You can choose going the trail by tram, walking or biking. I chose biking and it was an adventure. Bikes are rented at the park and the trail is 15 miles round trip (24Km), which demands a minimum phisical hability. On many parts of the trail, you find yourself alone, in the middle of the Everglades, with alligators just a... More

It is worth the drive over if you are anywhere nearby. We didn’t arrive until early afternoon and by then, we had to wait just to get a parking spot. It only took about 15 minutes though. We didn’t have time to take the 2 hour tram ride, but opted instead to just walk along the paved tram road from... More

When we turned off of Tamiami Drive to enter the Shark Valley area of Everglades National Park, we stopped at least a half a dozen times to look at birds and alligators before we even made it to the toll gate. We paid the $25 entrance fee and found more great wildlife by the parking lot at the Visitor’s Center.... More

We had great time. We saw so many alligators we lost count! We rented bikes. If you have your own bikes I would recommend bringing them. If you are renting, come early or if you come later (as we did) be patient. It is worth the wait!

On a recent trip to South Florida we visited the Everglades National Park. We had taken an air-boat ride on a previous visit so we decided to check out the National Park Service Shark Valley Visitor Center. While the address is Miami, it is actually about 20 miles west of Miami on the Tamiami Trail [US 40]. Entry to the... More

Spouse and I took the 9 am tour with a wonderful guide. I have forgotten her name but she and her husband were retirees in the area (from Philadelphia); she educated & guided us, he drove the tram and imitated animal sounds. Our group was small (7) and thus there was much interaction with them. She was extremely knowledgeable about... More

We had an hour before our tour so we quickly stopped by here. On our way in there were a bunch of cars parked on the side of the road by the entrance. Figured parking was scarce so I did the same thing. Although you have to walk a bit, it saves you $25. I wish we had more time... More

We took the two hour tram tour at 3:00 pm in the first week of Mar 2017. We saw alligators, birds, turtles and fish along the route. In general, there are more birds on the road heading south but they are in the field at quite a distance from the road. If you want to take photographs, you definitely need... More
