This was suggested by the park ranger down in Flamingo as a place to walk through the mangroves. It was very interesting and had plenty of anoles and water fowl. Might be the only place we saw coots on our many stops.

This short (.4 mile) boardwalk takes you through mangrove forests. Three types of mangroves (red, black and some white) are found here, although you will mainly see the red and black mangroves. The arched aerial roots of the Red mangroves densely cover the understory. Some...More

There is plenty of parking for this trail, and there is a restroom as well. It's an easy, flat boardwalk of 0.5 mi/800 m. We visited around noon on a Monday in March, and it was mostly empty - we encountered 2 other groups on...More

Very nice, short, shaded trail through a forest of all 4 types of mangroves (red, black, white and buttonwood) then ends out by the water.

I almost bypassed this hike but it was amazing. I felt like I was seriously walking through a forest of Ents when the hike went through the mahogany forest right to the water. The views over the lake had birds flying, gathering and separating into...More

It's a nice place to relax. Very quiet. The water is murky, but still. Lots of birds, herons and such. We saw a few fish too. We did not take out a boat or kayak, we just walked the perimeter some.

Seeing this area carved out on the map from development caused me to take a closer look before our vacation. Saw some geocaches and place to rent yaks and SUPs. Wind was strong there till the day I left, but I went in and rented...More

It was nice. Great if you want to just sit in shade or rent a canoe which hopefully we can do next time. We wanted to explore but it was so hot and even though it seemed big on the map maybe we just didnt...More

We visited the park at the end of May. We rented kayaks and paddle boards, each were $14 per hour. We paddle boarded for a few minutes and then switched to kayaks when we realized that we weren't that good at it LOL. The kayaking...More
