I had hoped that this southernmost tip of the continental US mainland would be well worth the drive down. While the ranger was informative and gave us hints on where to go, none of those places were down in the Flamingo complex. I guess this place is really just for the boating types and campers. Otherwise, there really isn't much... More

Nice drive in from Miami, wonderful views of the everglades. Many hidden lakes with alligators and crocodiles. Saw glad eagles, owls and manatees. Great camping and boating there as well. Highly recommend for family vacation.

We took a Pontoon boat ride today with our 3 - 12 year old grandchildren. We only saw one crocodile and that was pretty much it. We knew that there weren't any promises we would see anything, but thought the children would learn more about the eco system and the Everglades themselves. The PA system on the boat was very... The Flamingo area is well known for the terrible mosquitos. My first visit there in November was horrible. As soon as I got out of the Jeep I was swarmed by mosquitos. On my visit in April I was surprised to not be bitten at all; there were no mosquitos! It was chilly for Florida at night and windy which... More

Bathrooms always open. No stamps for the kids after 4:30. This is a beautiful location with not much to do. We saw American crocodiles and some weird cool trees. Beautiful breeze, and some nice information placards but not much to do. Did not see manatees, which was primary reason we drive 38 miles. Wish we skipped it for more volume... More

We decided to drive to Flamingo when we visited at Royal Palm Visitors Center. The road didn't have much views to offer, just plain fields of Everglades. I thought Flamingo would have been some kind of small village but this was just a visitors center and very large parking lot. On a parking lot swarm of mosquitos hit us immediately.... More

I escaped here and was not disappointed! Wonderful, clean, sprawling preserve. Rangers were amazingly helpful, advised about trails for hiking vs biking, less vs more mosquitos, where some manatees were hiding out in the marina (! yes, saw them !) It was a great place for a picnic, bike ride, walk along the beach. I heard the restaurant was very... More

We drove all the way down to Flamingo and once there got a good view out onto the water from the raised platform at the visitor center, and then saw a couple crocodiles and manatees in the water near the docks. It is sort of interesting since their is a damn at the docks and one side has brackish water,... More

Lifetime dream to visit the Florida Everglades. Very wonderful time with our teenage son, who was very engaged and delighted with the experience as well. Birds! Manatees, gators and crocs. Very fun to watch mama and dad osprey bring fish to their babies.

It's a long drive across the park to Flamingo and overall it was worth it. The highlight was watching 3 manatee swim around the marina. NPS staff in the Visitors Center were very friendly and helpful. The low point was finding out there were no kayaks available to rent. As we waited at the rental booth, the customer ahead of...
