At the very tip of the Everglades you will find Flamingo. There is not too much to see here. You do get a good view of the saltwater marsh, but dont expect to see many animals from the visitor center. This is mainly the gateway to the campground and the restrooms. If you are looking for animals, this is not... More

My friend and I went to the Everglades in early December 2016. We had reservations for Flamingo Campground but it was infested with mosquitoes at that time. So we stayed (set up our tents) just outside the entrance with friends who volunteer there. We only got rained on once and not for long It was muggy but we adjusted fast... More

We stood at Flamingo campground for 3 nights on New year eve. I really like all grass sites, at tent it feels like carpet. All sites are wide open, so do not count for any privacy. Hot shower is nice addition to cave-man life. Great Milky Way view at night sky. Mosquitoes are brutal, aggressive, and just pain in the... More

we didn't really see much there. Spent about 5 mins in the visitor center. The visitor center is nice. informative with restroom and gift shop. But the area around the visitor center isn't nice. it's empty grassy area with some trees. Lots of lots of mosquitos.

We rented a canoe for 4 people, two of us had to sit on the floor for the entire trip, which was quite a stretch. On the other hand, there were lots lots of mosquitoes, made the paddling less pleasant. Maybe we were not as patient or lucky, except mangrove and water, we did not see crocodiles. Some of us... We stayed at the Flamingo campground December 26-January 1st a total of 6 nights for $30.00 per night. Electric only no sewer or water. Spotty AT&T phone/internet service. Didn't turn the tv on so can't comment on that. I was only able to book 3 nights online but when I called the ranger assured me they would have spots available.... More

We camped here for a night. And dealt with bad mosquito bites. We had Deet on, but it was of little or no use. We had hoped to photograph the wildlife, and had to cut that short. Camping is lovely at sunset. The trails- Anhinga especially is a must see. Lots of birds, gators, turtles and fish. There is a... More

I camped in Flamingo and actually slept in my car because of the mosquitoes. Even with 100% Deet on, they were willing to die to bite me. I went on a boat tour and it was nice with nice vistas and wildlife. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. There is a shop with limited food selection, a small visitor center... More

Booked a boat tour. The guide pointed some baby alligators. But I am not sure how they find those so fast. I guess alligators will always stay at the same place. Otherwise, I don't believe that they can discover these small ones hidden on the tree in a second. In general the boat tour is good but expensive.

This is where the Gumbo Limbo and Anhinga trails begin. The center was unattended when we arrived in late afternoon. We did not see any vultures however there were tarps to protects cars.
