This was unexpectedly one of my favorite experiences in Denali National Park. The dogs are so lovable and get excited when it comes time to choose the select few for the demonstration. The rangers do a great job of explaining the role of sled dogs in the park. This attraction is free, but arrive early to the shuttles so you... More

Really cool experience. I was there at the end of October so the dogs were already training with ATV for the winter m, but we still got to chill with and pet the dogs. The dogs are REALLY nice and once they smell your hand, you can pet them, rub them, and even take selfies with them!

Pricey, but worth every penny Got a great understanding of how the dogs are bred, and 2.5 mile ride with them pulling the sled. Even "drove" the sled although with some restraint by the organizers. The chopper ride from town to the glacier and back is 25% of the experience too

This was a great experience for me to see because I have had sled dogs and raced them in New Jersey on snow courses with an Alaskan Dog Sled so I know how hard you have to train the dogs and yourself to endure the hardships of the trails that you race against the clock on. You may ask what... More

Put on by National Park Service Rangers who apparently provide care for the dogs and equipment as well. The narration and explanations about the use of dogs in Denali during the winter is very well done. The kennel areas are also open to the excited dogs. There is also a small room devoted to some history and dog sledding in... More

Great side trip, highly recommend. Note, if taking the 1.9 mile hike from the Visitor/Trans Center to the Sled Dog Demo area, it seemed like it was all up hill!

We were transported via bus to the sled dog area. We were met by a ranger who told us we could pet any of the dogs in the open area who appeared to want to be petted. We were asked to respect the dogs and not to force ourselves on them. My husband and I were greeted very affectionately by... More

You get to see the Alaskan huskies and even pet them. The dogs are so fun to see uncles. We even got to see some really cute puppies. We did not see this but there is a dog show that is very popular with little kids and dog lovers.

If you look for traces of dogs painted on the sidewalk near the visitor center and go for the direction you get to the bus station from where you taken for free to view the park sled dogs demonstration. In the park grow a small team of sled dogs and it is worth getting to the demonstration of dogs and... More

Excellent Activity. Free activity to do - check times at shuttle station or visitor centre. Free shuttle to and from visitor centre directly to the Sled Dogs. We spent the morning with the Husky Sled Dogs. The dogs are gorgeous and some of them are very cuddly which was emotional as we missed our two babies back home in Australia!... More
