*CLOSED FOR 2016* Alaska Travel Adventures:You and your fellow adventurers will take the wheel of 4-WD Jeep Wranglers® and follow your guide on a spectacular off-road journey into Denali’s backcountry. Your adventure begins near the entrance to Denali National Park where you meet your guide, receive your orientation and Jeep® assignment.Your destination is the Stampede Road. Once called the Stampede Trail, and not shown on most Alaska maps, this road was carved out of the wilderness by early miners working the area’s Kantishna gold fields and antimony mine. The Stampede Road gained notoriety recently in the motion picture, Into The Wild, directed by Sean Penn. This is the very same road that young Christopher McCandless, subject of the book, took to enter the wild. The first few miles of the Stampede Road are paved, but beyond this point your guide will lead you along some very primitive roadway providing you with plenty of bumps and dips and sways. Your Jeep Wrangler® carries four guests, and there will be ample opportunity to switch drivers so everyone can enjoy the thrill of maneuvering along this wilderness road.Interactive two-way radios allow your guide to explain the area’s rich history, point out interesting sights along the way, plus provide tips on the condition of the road ahead! Throughout the trip, you’ll be able to ask the guide questions and share the experience with your fellow drivers.Don’t forget your camera! On a clear day you may have the opportunity to see Mt. McKinley. Also, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings…this is habitat for moose, foxes, caribou and bears. You’ll enjoy a hearty Alaskan snack before wending your way back to civilization with lots of stories to share with friends and hopefully some great pictures as well.

Sierra was our tour guide. She was great. The jeeps were fun to drive, bouncy but worth it for the view at the top was spectacular! The canoe ride was fun. We all piled into one canoe. There were several children on board and Sierra told us that if we yelled, we could hear our echo. The kids loved it!... More

Area was picturesque, and it was nice to be in the new area of Cantwell, and to drive a jeep, but the cost of the trip was $$$$, and we saw a lot more, for a lot less, by paying for the national park tour 8 hour tour. Travel guide was nice and knowledgeable, but overall there are better ways... More

This was a really fun adventure. We got stuck in the mud and the guide and one other jeep pulled us out. Great stew and fry bread in the woods with another naturalist. Well worth the money.

When we arrived at the Chateau at Denali we were notified that the jet boat trip we had reserve in advance had been cancelled due to the low water level. We were given an opportunity to choose an alternate adventure and the Jeep Backcountry Safari did not disappoint. We were paired with another couple and our husbands took a turn... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience on our jeep tour. I wasn't expecting to get to actually drive and that made it even better for me. The guide and the everyone else were knowledgeable and very friendly. My whole family had a wonderful time and I highly recommend the tour to one and all. Ed Killen

Great experience for a mild off road jeep tour. The Guides were unbelievable, really great including the man in the woods cooking.. Just felt tour was misleading as not really in Denali and not much of a wildlife tour.. We did see 2 moose at the end. Just nothing like a "Backcountry Safari"

We had so much fun the day Kendall took us backcountry! Driving the rough roads and 'puddles' was a blast! Fall colors and scenic views of the tundra were stunning. We learned so much from Kendall as she entertained and educated us with stories and information about the people and area around Denali. The cook's camp where we feasted on... More
