It looks like a giant painting of mountains! Literally! The beginning is the best. After you get in there it's more just mountains though.

Great idea, especially for those who can't hike. One of the highlights of the park. Ask what time of the day is best to see most colours.

This week paved, one way road is a great, easy view of the beautiful mountains of Death Valley. The colors change throughout the day so morning views will differ from late afternoon views. Most views are easily seen from your vehicle without getting out but climbing the hills gives you an even better view. Highly recommend for an easy drive... More

It is worth to take this detour from or to Badwater. The changing rock formations and beautiful colours are a mist when you are in this area.

This is a one way road, but well worth spending the time as it provides wonderful views. We drove it in the evening as the sun set and had it all to ourselves. The road is narrow and I don't think it would have been suitable for large camper vans.

My wife and I actually cycled this route in 25-35 MPH winds BUT the ride was spectacular. The colors were outstanding and the newly paved route was very, VERY welcomed. DO NOT MISS THIS DRIVE--it's stunning.
