This is a "must do" detour if visiting Death Valley - a 9 mile one-way road through hills with stunning pink, green, black and yellow colours. The road is in excellent tarmaced condition so no no worries about tyres and there are a couple of...More

Here's what I said: What a lovely peaceful afternoon and evening! I traveled down Artist's Drive, which is a one-way, 9-mile trip through colorful rock formations, stopping occasionally for short hikes. Perhaps you can tell by the pictures already posted of Zabriskie Point, but the...More

This is a one way road that takes you threw the beautiful hills and the great colors that the mountains have. Good roads and viewpoints ( and toilets) make this a drive threw that you can enjoy while staying in the car ( necessary at...More

This is a nice detour and whilst not sensational, certainly has more to offer than Zabriskie point. The clarity of the different colours on some of the rocks will depend on the quality of the light at the time.

Unique little drive that you will come across on the main road that leads to Badwater..take this on your way back because of how it's a one way and loops you back towards your way out. On the way in you will see a pull...More

It was so hot when we drove this out car started to overheat so we had to turn the air conditioner off and let the car cool down. It is a nice drive. One way winding road. Able to see the different colors.

It's about a 9-mile trek through some gorgeous terrain. It's one-way and doesn't take too long. There are a few turn-offs which are worth a quick stop. It was 127 degrees when we were there, so we didn't stop long, but it is gorgeous to...More

With so many other amazing places in Death Valley I didn't see what is do special about the Artist drive. Yes the rocks have different colours but nothing else.

Whenever you visit areas like Death Valley, you should try to take detours of the main road. We tok the detour, stopped and walked around in numerous places, like Artists Palette. The drive was quite fun, as the winding roads were in quite a good...More

Take a detour off the main drag. You can stop and walk out at various points, including Artists Palette, but it was too hot for us to do that. We enjoyed the drive itself as the road was in excellent condition and went through some...More

I'm not sure why this one-way road will be closing, it looked to be in great condition when I was there. I would say the bicycles would be ok but that really depends on what they are doing to the road going through Artist's... More
