The crater sits all by itself, so you won't find droves of people with you. For those with a fear of heights, you might consider hanging out near the parking lot. You can clearly see everything from the lot. The walk around the crater is...More

Fantastic collection of varying sized volcanic craters. The big one is deep with a lot of friable material at the top that may give some pause. Winds were 40+ mph the early April day we were there. Great short [less than 4 miles] rim trails...More

We stopped by before heading to Racetrack Playa. The views are amazing. Hike up counter clockwise to find smaller craters hidden behind the main crater.

This was incredible. Felt like I was on the surface of the moon. This is a dormant volcano with a 3 mile hike around the crater. Also could see it just by getting out of the car. There is also Little Hebe right next door....More

Walk the rim trail. Beautiful, desolate craters and fabulous views. Hardly another soul there even in February.

You walk up an incline and a huge crater opens up before you. Then a short walk and another crater. One crater is mostly white rock, the other mostly black rock. Well worth the drive to the northern part of the park.

It is how you feel when you are at the top of the crater. It was very very very windy and cold but if you are properly dressed, it is an easy walk and you can enjoy beautiful landscapes.

Going to Ubehebe wasn't on my list for DV NP but my husband really wanted to go. It wasn't far out of our way to stop on our way from Mesquite Springs Campground to Eureka sand dunes. It was ok, just a giant whole in...More

The rim trail is great but parts are quite high and sheer either side! would not want to hike to the centre!! well worth doing, beautiful views.

Previous reviews are correct in that one need not walk around the Ubehebe crater to view but I highly recommend that if you are physically capable, then DO it! Pictures just don't do it justice...and viewing from the parking lot is simply not the same...More
