The trip out to Wizard Is is fun. The three hours on the island was good to hike to the top of the cone volcano. Lunch on top is worth the trip and the views are 360 degrees of the entire lake. The geological history of the caldera walls and the area is really neat as well.

One of the boat trips that leaves from Cleetwood Cove lets passengers off here for a 3 hour time period. Again, a steep hike up to the rim of the caldera, but well worth it. Afterwards jump into the lake or dangle your feet in the water. You can fill your water container from the lake. On the way to... More

A volcano inside a volcano! So cool. Truly amazing. They drop you off and let you explore and then pick you up much later. It is so beautiful and makes you feel small.

We had three hours to hike to the top and catch the boat again. That's enough, but there's very little time left over to enjoy the views from the top and explore the crater.

This was our first view of Crater Lake. We were stunned by it's beauty. The power of nature to create this crater and also the island is mind boggling. The lake want as blue as it can be due to the smoke from the nearby fires.

Crater lake is a unique experience, but the boat tour of the lake and 3 hour visit to Wizard Island is a unique experience within this unique experience! You need to make sure that you have plenty of time to get to the Cleetwood trailhead (90 minutes commute time recommended). For example, if you think of Crater Lake as a... More

5+ hour boat tour with 3 hours on the island, with a ranger from the National Park Service on board offering cultural and natural history information. Tickets sell out and should be purchased way in advance. Even with a confirmed online reservation, passengers need to get actual tickets at the ticket booth located near the trailhead. Allow plenty of time... More

I can't say too much about this spot since I didn't take a boat to it. But, you can get great views of it from the overlooks along the rim drive. From one overlook in particular you can almost look directly down into it.

Definitely worth the money for the visit to this most special place. Take a towel and swimsuit...although the clear blue water isn't what you would call warm (58f) on a warm Aug day it is just too picturesque not to jump in. You can also hike to the top of Wizard Island, with it's own caldera, and get at 360°... More

We spent 3 hours on the island. You can take a swim in Fumarole Bay or hike to the summit. We did the latter. You get amazing 360 degree views from atop the summit. There's a crater on the summit that you can descend into.
