Unfortunately when we were visiting the boat trips to the island were not operating, but I would definitely go if they were. It would give a unique view of the crater from inside it.

At the park there is a boat tour that stops at Wizard Island which, if you have a few hours is well worth the time. The hike down and more importantly back up from the lake surface where the boats are is a bit strenuous but pleasant enough. If you visit Crater Lake go for the whole ball of wax... More

Wizard Island is a cinder cone and predominate feature in Crater Lake. We were unable to take the boat to the island due to recent knee surgery. The route to get to the landing is a 1-mile trail from the rim to the water. There are numerous viewpoints around the rim to get a great view of the island. Merriam... More

Wizard Island is the big island in the middle of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park. My husband and I visited Crater Lake National Park on a Sunday. The water is a beautiful blue in the lake and around the Wizard Island. Be aware Crater Lake National Park is extreme crowded on the weekends, even in September. Rim Drive... More

Stunning. Don't miss this. The beauty is something that is not easy to describe. Stay at Timberline lodge if it is available.

Wizard Island gives crater lake a cool perspective. If you want to visit the island you have to hike down the trail (not good for small children). Then take the boat tour that will drop you off at the island where you will have to hang out for a while and wait for the afternoon boat tour to pick you... More

Good viewing at the Watchman Overlook. The lake water was crystal blue and it was so calm and peaceful that it reflected the entail crater rim.

The best way to see the island is to take the boat tour. Get online early and try to reserve as soon as possible as the spots fill up quickly in summer. You can take a tour of the lake or get dropped off on the island and picked back up 3 hrs later. How many other opportunities are you... More
