We decided after traveling all the way to the caverns we might as well stay for the bats and were so glad we did! The experience was magical... we watched thousands of bats exit the cave in tornado formations. As others warned, they do not...More

It’s amazing to watch the bats as they nonstop leave the cavern. Thousands at a time. It can take up to 3 hrs for all the bats to fly out.

We had to be quiet and no electronics or cameras. The Ranger talked about the bat's until they started coming out. They said 800000. We watched for about 1/2 hr before leaving. Amazing to see them streaming out of the cave spiraling out and up...More

I really didn't expect to be educated by a Park Ranger while waiting for the bats to emerge. I thought that we would go there and sit and wait in the amphitheater. The Park Ranger is an excellent speaker, very knowledgeable about bats, and very...More

Unfortunately we do not have any photos of the bat flight because according to the Park service taking photos can interrupt the bats search for food. It was very cool to watch all of the bats fly out of the cave at dusk and go...More

We saw the bat flight on August 4th, 2018 and even the ranger said it was the best one he'd ever seen. Apparently we hit it just right and this was probably the first flight for all the baby bats which had been born the...More

Check with the rangers to see what time the bat program starts - changes throughout the summer. Get there 10-15 minutes early to walk down to the amphitheater & get a seat. We brought stadium seats & water & it made the wait more comfortable....More

Sorry just saw your question you might check tripadvisor and see if they have a website for the park and you should have an answer. I found it when we went last year that way but don't remember all the facts now

You cannot see the bats while in the cave. The area they reside in is away from the public areas. But, you can smell them if you go in the natural entrance. They do migrate, so check the website for when they are there.
