We had met a couple from Utah while at Arches and they highly recommended Cassidy Arch, so named because supposedly, Butch and his gang frequented these parts. You drive along the scenic byway in Capital Reef to get there. The hike is probably around 4 miles round trip, and I would rate it as moderately strenuous. You start out climbing... More

The trail is rough at the start especially in the heat. Its a little hard to follow at the top, just watch for the cairns. No shade on most of the trail. Good work out and beautiful arch! Bring a good amount of water.

I saw Cassidy Arch as I put together a few trails together to make a big loop (Frying Pan, Cohab Canyon, Navajo Knobs, Grand Wash and Scenic Drive). I have seen a lot of epic arches in Utah's many National Parks, but this one's setting is very different and almost eerie! You have to see this one to believe it.

This is a great walk to a superb arch . Careful navigation at the end across awkwardly angled slick rock is necessary following the little cairns. You can nearly always see the next one from the one you're next to so pay attention! There is an excellent view of the arch part way along the trail but just use it... More

Just 3-4 miles long but up some steep steps - this walk is not too difficult but you have to be reasonably fit. The arch at the end is not the only prize. The views the whole way once you reach the top are stunning. Watch out for the trees and cairns that mark the way. Fab walk - do... More

This is not a hike for the faint of heart. Although it is not a particularly long hike, it is steep and exposed. At some points you will be walking along the edge of a cliff. The best view of the bridge is about 3/4 the way up. If you walk to the bridge, you end up being on top... More

This hike is well worth it. You can go half way and see the Arch from a distance or continue up to the far side and see it up close. We are 70 and were able to do the trail, and take a short break at the top, in 2 1/4 hours return. Careful on the first leg which is... More

The road to the start of the hike was closed so add 2.6 miles (round trip) to the hike. You pass through Echo Cliffs which is fun...seemed obligatory to try them out!! The hardest part of the trail was right at the start (not the road to it) as it was steep and rocky. You are then given fabulous views... More

While we were here the drive to the arch parking was closed so we had to walk in from the road which added over a mile to the trek. The hike up to the arch was steep and often times narrow. The view from the top is well worth it. If you don't have the energy to hike to the... More

We loved this hike through a wash and up across slick rock to Cassidy arch. Capitol reef is much quieter than the other parks in Utah although it does get get hot so start early. We are in our fifties and hike in the uk but this walk was ok.
