After you make it up the steep climb, the canyon opens up to a beautiful hike. The scenery on the trail is "off the hook"

I've never before hiked Cohab Canyon on past trips to Capitol Reef. I'm glad I finally did last week. It's beautiful, and I had it all to myself for the first hour or so (it does get much busier in peak season and later in...More

After a short climb on switchbacks, the trail arrives at the head of a narrow canyon. It initially runs mostly along the bottom of a wash, then goes up to two overlooks of Fruita by hugging the side of the canyon. We enjoyed the opportunity...More

I went on this hike after completing the Hickman Bridge. I was curious but I did not see anything that caught my eye. I went beyond the junction to the campgrounds and decided to turn around because I felt this hike was not that exciting.

We started the hike at 7AM. This is a perfect time as at the beginning of the trail, when it's the harder part (it's a steep path), you are always in the shade. It makes the ascent a little easier. Then, as you arrive in...More

Relatively easy hike up a canyon with a couple of different viewpoints. The rock formations and scenery are great along the entire trail. This was our favorite hike in the park.

I did this hike walking straight out of Fruita Campground. It was July so it got pretty hot. But I had plenty of water with me (100 oz hydro pack). Loved the ever changing scenery throughout this hike.

This is a superb walk which you start from the car park near the homestead. It climbs quickly and then flattens out as you walk through the canyon. Supposedly where Mormon polygamists hid in the past from persecution it's stunningly attractive. Part way along you...More

Starting from the barn a few hundred yards down the road from Gifford House, the trail starts with a steep climb for 0.3 miles, then evens out and goes relatively downhill for another 1.4 miles. At the end, I crossed the street and joined up...More

We started from Fruita, near the camping ground, and it's true the first hundred meters are pretty steep, but once you get into the canyon, then it gets very easy, and it's one of the best hikes in the area. Don't miss the lookouts, it's...More
