For us, this is THE BEST in Islands In The Sky district! It surely has the grandest view! If there's a spot we'd go back to, this is it.

Amazing views looking down to valley, basins, and canyons. Take the Grand View Point trail all the way to the lookout around 3 miles return for non stop vista's.

Such a spectacular viewpoint. Makes you wonder how our ancestors traversed this country a couple hundred years ago. Decided to take the Rim Walk which was advertised at one mile. Mostly level - large cairns kept you going in the right direction. There were some built in steps but nothing that would hold anyone back. Only the strong sun could do that without sunscreen. Most agreed it felt like more than a one mile one way and two miles round trip but at the end you saw the side of the canyon you'd been walking along and the other side as well. Nice place to sit and relax and have a snack to energize you for the return trip. Somehow the trip back seemed shorter. It was a nice way to spent the afternoon - Nature created a gem here.

This trail and viewpoint is at the end of the road through Islands in the Sky and as you would expect is well worth the effort.

The viewpoint is impressive enough but for the full and richer experience the mile and a bit walk to the end is a must. It's nearly all flat and along well marked rock paths (follow the cairns), and takes around half an hour each way. There are photo opportunities along the way as you scan the Canyon seeking sight of the Colorado, and at the end there is a photo opportunity at the end of the road by a tree. Fellow hikers will take the shot for you!

Brilliant.

Grand View point over look is at the end of the loop road and all I can say is they saved the best for last. All the views in the park are beautiful, but this one is special….it is gorgeous, captivating and needs to be seen in person.

The Grand View Overlook and hike is at the end of the scenic road from the Islands in the Sky section of Canyon Lands. There is plenty of parking. You have the option to view the incredible canyons, rivers and rock formations from the overlook area and the paths are easy to access (mostly street/sidewalks). Additionally there is a hike to take that has a closer view of the rocks and wonderful scenery. The path does go up and down so watch your footing on the loose rocks. We did attempt to use hiking sticks but really too rocky for our sticks.

For me Mesa Arch was the best Overlook in the park; however, Grandview Point is the best hike. While the initial overlook from the parking lot is amazing here, do not cheat yourself. Hike the 2 mile out an back hike. There is little elevation but the hike does travel up and down through a series of rock formations on the top of butte plateau. You get views on two sides so you see two canyons, the Colorado River and the Green River. It is an amazing hike made more incredible when you reach the point. Unfortunately, there was a storm coming so we had to hurry back to just miss the rain and more importantly, lightning. With that said, this is an incredible hike, not that long, but each step will provide you a more amazing view than the last. Here the inner canyons are incredible drop-offs, and you see the power of water. Again this is not a long hike or exhausting one. I highly recommend it for the views of both canyons. However, this is one neither my words or pictures will do justice. You need to go see it.

Very few people, easy access to parking and trails. A bucket list trip for anyone that likes the outdoors, taking photos etc. We had sunshine, rain, hail and snow..

One of the best overlooks in the park, this overlook gives an expansive view onto beautiful canyons and formations as its name suggests. The overlook is at the end of the main road in Islands in the Sky.
