We used the outfitter CRATE, who were recommended by my daughter who lives in the area. They were very professional. The float itself was phenomenal. The canyon is absolutely beautiful and the 31 rapids were great. Lots of great hikes off river also.

I was very impressed with the level of efficiency and safety awareness that our trip was organized with. The level of experience that all of our guides brought on this trip, including navigation, camp set-up, meal prep and clean up and presentation of the awe inspiring sights that we encountered was one that I will remember for a long time. Samantha is a fantastic trip leader, Corey and Ian are great helmsmen with great attitudes and Russ is a guide to make every trip memorable in many ways. We were on a four day trip with quite a large group and patience was the most prominent virtue expressed by the crew.

My husband and I booked the overnight Cataract Canyon rafting trip through Tag-a-long Expeditions and we are so glad we did. Ben was our guide assisted by Aubrey. We felt like royalty as they both made sure we were well taken care of. Our first day we rode 9 of the rapids and then camped. Ben and Aubrey fixed us a wonderful supper of steak and potatoes with a excellent appetizer first. We had a wonderful camping spot with lots of stars and the weather could not have been better. After breakfast, Ben explained what to expect on the 21 rapids that we would ride that day. Ben was a outstanding guide and we had the experience of a lifetime !!!!!! Ben guided us through the rapids with his expert knowledge and exceeded our expectations!!!!! This is a trip that my husband will talk about for years to come . Thankyou Tag ALong Expeditions and especially Ben and Aubrey for a once in a lifetime awesome trip! The scenic plane ride back was awesome too. If you want a whitewater rafting trip we highly recommend Tag A long Expeditions and ask for Ben as your guide. You will be glad you did!!!!!!

I used to guide this section back in the day, doing 5 day non-motorized row trips.
the scenery is fabulous, the first 2 or 3 days are relaxing float and walks, then a day and a half of rapids, and then some motoring off Lake Powell. More or less- the itinerary is different depending on the river flows- be flexible, listen to your guides and you'll have a great time.
You can do motorized trips, but I liked the pace of the quiet row trips better. Read the brochures of the companies that offer trips, and go with the one that fits what you're looking for. I used to work for Sheri Griffith Expeditions for 11 years, but really, all the companies down there are OK.
If you want to do a private trip with your own boat, a good website for details is the Mountain Buzz forums. But if you are doing a private trip in Cat, why would you be reading this review?
The rapids here in the spring runoff can be HUGE, if the Rocky Mtn snowpack is 100% of average, BIG if its even in the 70% plus range.
Go, enjoy!

Whitewater, camping and Tag-A-Long make a superb combination. If you want the real thing, fantastic camping along the river (I've never even put up a tent, just slept under the stars) and have some time, take at least the 3 day option with Tag.

The rapids are amazing, the scenery fabulous! Could not ask for a better stretch of river to raft. The water is cold! Make sure you bring rain gear.

We will have three adults, one teenager, and two small kids (4 and 6) in our party. We are considering one day rafting trip in the Canyonlands with one of the local companies. My questions are:
1. Is one day trip worth it or should we wait until we have more time and kids are older to do a multi day trip? We have traveled/hiked extensively in the canyons, but never rafted before and have not hiked in the summer before.
2. If you do recommend a rafting one day trip, which company and/or specific tour would you recommend?
Thanks!
