We Saw Buffalo!

This place was way better than we expected and was one of our favorite parks on our cross-country trip.

Go see the Badlands Nationalpark! It's absolutely amazing and incredibly hot! We drove the loop road in a RV. We also drove approximately 10 miles on gravel which we DO NOT recommend in a RV!! It was terrible and took way too long. The mountains are beautiful. They're most beautiful in the morning and late afternoon. You can easily spend... More

My wife and I took the loop road around Badlands National Park. The rock formations are absolutely incredible. It's kind of cool that you can be driving and see a couple of dozen mounds and see prairie dogs running around. Definitely a good time.

We stopped here while driving to Mount Rushmore back in Aug 2015. Now after knowing more about the trails, I wish I had taken more time to explore it. The formations are so weird and lovely at the same time.

I'll keep this short. If you are entertaining a visit to the Black Hills area of South Dakota then go in the winter (we visited in January). The reason -> no crowds. We had the Loop Road to ourselves and saw more bison than cars. At Mt. Rushmore we had front row parking and I don't know what was better...the... More

I had heard about this place for a long time but didn't know how great it was till now. Awesome drive with a lot of places to pull off to walk around and take pictures. Saw a bunch of bighorn sheep and prairie dogs. Will come back again.

Didn't realize the hardships the people of the early badlands overcame until you actually see the place and learn how they settled there and how many of them died there.

The trip through Badlands has some great views and a couple small hikes. You can get the feel for Badlands and a satisfying trip in less than a full day. I combined this day with the Minuteman Missile tour and Wall Drug. I got back to Rapid City around dinner time. The views are absolutely wonderful, but I felt like... More

It's surreal to see the giant rock formation. I felt so little among those rocks. The weather was cloudy so my friends and I were worried that it wouldn't show that nice in pictures. However, it was still amazing. I would say it's a kind of nature that's hard to find in Europe or East Asia.

I end up driving across the state quite a bit and every once in a while when coming back from the Black Hills I drive through the Park. The Badlands look different in each season, and it's worth the drive to see them. It's spectacular, but not in the way that the mountains or oceans are. But it is truly... More
