While Sand Beach gets most of the attention, this beach may be a better spot if you actually want to swim. This is a fresh water beach (lake) rather than ocean, and the water tends to be warmer than the ocean water at Sand Beach....More

This is a nice but small beach on Echo Lake. The nice thing is that the water is plenty warm for swimming, in the good weather months, unlike Sand Beach. There are showers and bathrooms and parking is quite adequate. The beach is part sandy...More

This is the only lake you can swim in at Acadia. We did the hike right out of the parking lot first, which was a great first hike of the week, it's pretty easy with some ladders and great views. Afterwards the lake was very...More

The water is actually warm enough to enjoy swimming here, unlike at sand beach. There is a lifeguard. It's a pretty spot and would be great for a canoe/kayak as well. I think one of the buses does stop here, but we just drove and...More
