We hiked down to Echo lake and back up the difficult trail path. Was really neat to sit and just soak in the view after a nice hike, then prepare for the more difficult climb/hike back up.

This is a very pretty lake. Unfortunately, the two times we stopped by it was very foggy. There were still people swimming in the water, although it was fairly cold. We could still appreciate the beauty of this place though. There was a parking lot...More

If you have been climbing mountains or hiking trails, you need to finish your day at Echo Lake. We took the shuttle twice from our camp ground and enjoyed a good swim in the crystal clear, sandy bottomed lake.

This was our relaxing part of our trip. We went later in the day (around 1:30) and it wasn't the least bit crowded! the water was a little chilly but nowhere near as cold as Sand Beach. We had fun playing frisbee and playing in...More

This was a great break to cool down in the hot August weather. Echo Lake Beach is free provided you have an Acadia National Park parking pass. There are changing rooms and outdoor showers. Bring your own beach equipment and swimming toys!

The scenery is terrific on the drive up to Echo Lake Beach. Unfortunately the day was brutally hot and everyone had the same idea. There was no paling available so we couldn't head out to the lake.

The water was clear and warm enough to swim. A horde of excited kids ran into to splash around. The setting was beautiful. A perfect spot to cool off when visiting Acadia.

We went late in the afternoon, not crowded, the water is cold (60) so you must be hardy to swim there. There are two picnic benches, a grassy area, lovely bath house/restrooms, shower off area. Beautiful lake surrounded by granite, pines trees, sky. Lovely
