Guest what? I bought a mint Nikon D700 for a less than USD1000 at Nipponbashi during my recent visit. The price offered is far cheaper from what available at Akibahara or Any others electronic town. From my observation, you can get all type of good lenses at a very low price. This is truly a heaven for photographer or camera junkies out there.

When planning my holiday to Japan I choose the city of Osaka for several reasons, an important one is Denden Town. I love Akihabara in Tokyo, so I was very curious about its counterpart in Osaka.
Both feature electronics stores, manga stores, more electronic shops, J-Pop stores, some computer stops, maid cafes and of course some electronics discounters. In square metres Denden Town is at least as big as Akihabara. The variety is even better than in Akihabara, because Osaka also has many stores specialising in power tools. There's also a cat cafe where girls dress up as cats and wait on the guests; the cat cafe in Akihabara features actual cats.
Places of interest are Super Potato (vintage games and game consoles) and Astro Zombies (movies props from the 80s (anyone looking for a full size ET model, an A-Team car or Star Wars toys?)). The "media recycle" shop on the main street is also worthwhile, since it offers true bargains (I got a BlueRay disc for 2000 yen instead of the usual 5990 yen).
While the shops and theme cafes in Akihabara and Denden Town might be similar, the difference is in the vibe and density. In Tokyo's Akihabara everything is densely packed together. Visitors walk narrow alley ways to find that one gem, that one shops that sells unique electronics at bargain prices. In Osaka the streets are much wider and tuned cars drive aimlessly up and down to show off (which is very annoying for pedestrians). Also, in Akihabara there's more energy in the air, while Denden Town is more laid back.
Some other minor differences: Akihabara offers some decent hotels, while all hotels in Denden Town seem some what cheap and sleezy. I would not want to stay in Denden Town overnight. Akihabara is very well connected to Tokyo's trains and subways, while Denden City has no train or subway stations. On the other hand: popular areas like Dotombori and the famous Ebisu Bridge are within walking distance. By following the main road one automatically walks from electronics heaven into fashion paradise.

Similar to Tokyo's Akihabara. Den Den Town is essentially the anime, manga, and Japanese gamer’s dream come true: streets lined with the stuff you want (and some freakish weird stuff too).
Lots of small gems to be found with cheaper prices than in Tokyo's Akihabara.
Like Akihabara, it also has maid caffee's where japanese girls dressed in maid costumes entertain you while you have drink or two. Trust me, there is nothing sleazy or sexual in it.
Head to Ebisucho station and take exit 1A.

I went to Den Den Town in July of 2005 and it was great. Compared to tokyo's Akihabara (electric town) the stores seemed easier to navigate and the prices also were a little better. The best store for video games there is called "Super Potato" and is very large; larger than the Akihabara one actually. There is a McDonalds there where you can eat.

Reached there early in the morning to buy a watch. It is averagely priced when compared to watch stores in Dotombori. Got good discounts using card & passports for tourists.
It is not far from Kuromon Ichiba Market.

If you've been to Tokyo, you can definitely say that Akihabara is bigger and better, but this place has a charm of its own. The address for the directions is incorrect, but we managed to find the right spot. The directions will lead you to a love hotel district away from the actual site.

I read the others' review about how great this place is. So I went there to get a replacement for my stolen tablet, but all I saw were stores selling games, DVD, adult videos, and the likes. I could not find a store with decent selections of laptops or tablets.
One that I found had a very limited selections. I will never come back here again

The claw machines shops which are bigger and per games is 100 Yen are preferred over small shops which per game is 200 Yen.
Most shops with 100 Yen per game have very helpful staff whom will help you to win the claw machine games. The stalls with 200 Yen per game may not have as friendly staff or easy to win claw machines around.
They have second hand figuring shops in the area, which we recommend people to compare the prices before buying any figures.

Has many floors of toys ranging from cars to model planes, trains, tanks, ships. They also sell lego and other toys. Go on a weekday where it's less crowded

Hi everyone! I'm going to Osaka, Japan next month and I'm planning to buy a used GPU and other PC peripherals for cheaper prices from Denden Town since I've heard it's the closest thing to Tokyo's Akihabara. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Hi,
Most shops close between 8pm - 9pm in Nipponbashi. If you are going shopping for anime figures I'd recommend checking out Animate, Gee Store and Yellow Submarine.

Are there Mangas sold in English version for tourist?
Written 11 November 2017
I'm not sure as I haven't seen one in Denden Town. I only saw English and other translations of manga at the shop of International Manga Museum in Kyoto.
