- Yuen Sze W1 contributionVery enjoyableWhat an experience! We really enjoyed the way the exhibits are put together. Very thoughtful and interactive way to immerse ourselves in the art pieces. At first we were a bit worried about the water portion of the exhibits but they were very enjoyable and towels were provided to dry our feet. The garden exhibits were very interesting in the way they were arranged. We also enjoyed the ramen in art, which was an extension to the exhibit. The food was lovely was well. Great way to end the experience and highly recommend!Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 January 2024
- Chloe HLane Cove, Australia60 contributionsMust do in Tokyo!Great interactive / immersive art experience for all ages. We all loved different parts of the exhibition, can recommend for everyone. Your legs get wet so wear pants you can roll up to your thighs or get the shorts they offer free.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 January 2024
- dlierkampBrisbane, Australia2 contributionsSpiritual experience!Amazing and original. A spiritual experience. Don't know if this was the intent but the light room with the roof, wall and floor mirrors looked to me like a multi-dimensional place where souls go after they die. With people at different levels depending on their degree of enlightenment, some down, some in the middle and some up high. It is the closest thing to what people who have had near death experiences have described that I have seen. Even the light effects seemed to suggest energy and auras coming out of people or groups of people, and the lights looked like the matrix of illusion that is the 3rd dimension we inhabit.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 24 January 2024
- Discover481019861241 contributionLight feastIt's amazing, but the unfriendly circulation leads to the fact that we missed a few spots later, which is really a pity. During the process, towels were thoughtfully prepared for wiping parts that required wading, which was very considerate. There was also a related app that could interact with the on-site environment. I can’t forget the impact of the interaction between the lights and the venue for a long time!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 January 2024
- SandyShibuya, Japan36 contributionsJust go! Don't wonder if you should!Absolutely amazing experience... what is it? It's art and sensory (visual, smell, touch) exhibit that you just have to experience... maybe one of the best things I've done in Tokyo and I live here! It took us maybe 2-hours to walk through taking our time to enjoy all the experiences and wonder who came up with it and how it was done.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 January 2024
- Adventure132164199131 contributionIncredible art.Incredible art installations, very kind and helpful staff. Only suggestion would be to ban filming and cameras as many people are more concerned about getting the perfect shot, rather than appreciating the moment and the art itself. People are visibly annoyed when you walk in the way of their camera however some rooms are quite narrow and you have no choice but to move forward, it encourages poor attitudes towards the art and the other people enjoying it. Aside from that absolutely wonderful, would highly recommend to anyone, just make sure you duck before you walk in front of the cameras aha.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 January 2024
- arlene jSan Diego, California1 contributionIt’s a totally different experience. Loved it. Recommend it for everyoneI would recommend buying tickets in advance. The venue is new so be there early. The area is a little bit out of the way but easy to get to with google maps. The experience was great. Different from the usual shopping or art venue. I recommend it for everyone to see.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 January 2024
- Mariana Inés C7 contributionsSuper interesting: visual cultureWhat they do is very good. Interesting game of LED lights, mirrors, water and aromas. Different body positions and privileges of some senses over others at times. Worst? What makes it a business: everything designed to be Instagrammed. And the content of the artwork, as they call it, is doubtful... if not absent. And it lacks a story. Very 21st century: what counts is the image.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 January 2024
- 1VictoriaTheTravelerSacramento, California862 contributionsAn extraordinary experienceMy husband, myself and my teenage son visited teamLab Tokyo in February 2023. We arrived early and waited for them to open only to realize that we needed to purchase tickets ahead for a specific time slot and date. We were able to walk over to the ticket machines to the left of the entrance and purchase tickets for later that same day. It was an extraordinary experience that captivated our senses in every way. The immersive installations and interactive exhibits created a unique and fun environment, offering a blend of art and technology that left us in awe. From walking on water to colorful digital landscapes, each exhibit was a journey into the extraordinary. A piece of advice for future visitors: make sure to book tickets ahead of time and carefully note your selected time slot. Entry is strictly based on these time slots, and the lines can be exceptionally long if you haven’t booked in advance. There’s also a risk of tickets being sold out, so planning ahead is crucial for a smooth and enjoyable visit. In conclusion, teamLab Planets Tokyo is a must-visit for those seeking an immersive and sensorial experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore this captivating world of art and technology, but be sure to plan accordingly to make the most of your visit.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 February 2024
- KiwifruitandcompanyYpsilanti, Michigan64 contributionsJoyful experienceI was in Japan for work, and a friend recommended I check this out. I'm so glad I went! Experiencing the exhibits lightened my mood considerably, and I wasn't the only one: you could see that the exhibits brought joy and a sense of wonder to everyone in there. The museum is right off a subway stop and isn't expensive for what you get to experience. Highly recommended.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 3 February 2024

We visited as a family with a 6yo. We bought tickets online the day before and there was no queue at 9:30am on a public holiday. We took a taxi there from our hotel in Tokyo Station and it took about 15 minutes and not too expensive. On the way, back we took the bus (bus stop was 5 mins walk from Planets) and that was really easy too if you have a Suica Card to pay for bus fare.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Planets. There's a single path to go through all of the exhibits, it's not really made for you to double back. We took our time in each room, and some of the rooms you would want to just sit or lie down and just watch the lights and listen to the music. Our 6yo boy did not get bored, he was captivated with all the sensory overload that comes with any Teamlab experiences. Kids would love the fish pond room and the giant inflatable ball room. At a leisurely pace, we did the whole thing in 90 mins and felt like we could have spent a little more time there. The size of the crowd in each room as "just right" when we visited, you can see other people around you but you won't get into each other's way or feel rushed because there are lots of people milling around you.
One of the exhibit requires you to wade through knee deep water so wear shorts or pants that you can roll up easily. For kids, I recommend bringing a change of clothes because they would want to splash. A couple of the rooms have mirrored floors so ladies wearing skirts or dresses might feel a bit exposed. The venue have shorts for you to borrow prior to entering the exhibit. There are lockers for your belongings and changerooms.
We decided to go to TeamLab Planets instead of TeamLab Borderless because Borderless is much more crowded, much bigger and takes a bit longer to get there. We liked that we got our TeamLab fix in less than 3 hours (commute included) and can get on with doing other things. Teamlan Borderless will take you at least 5-6 hours. The location of Planets meant that you can do a tour of the fish market early in the morning and then head over to Planets afterwards, AND you will still have your afternoon free for other activities.

We thought it was the typical tourist trap attraction where you visit just to take "instagram" worthy photos. But the experience was truly magical! A must visit when you're in Tokyo.
It's an interactive art museum where even the crowd becomes part of the attraction. We really enjoyed the water part.
Only downside was the line and the waiting time. Even if you arrive on your exact time slot, you still have to wait in line at least 30min just to get in. We also got dizzy in the last room so we skipped it.

Provided that I’m passionate about art in general and this was my first experience in this kind of multidimensional museum, I was positively impressed by the installations!
Before choosing between Planets and Borderless, I read some reviews online and decided to go here due to the fact that it’s usually less crowded and far more immersive. In fact, I bought the tickets online for my family (no children) and we didn’t wait in line for more than 5 minutes (it was a working day). They told us in English how the installation worked and asked us to leave shoes/socks in the locker (very convenient because we carried around just the locker keys at our wrist and the phone for taking pictures).
In my opinion, experiencing this kind of art barefeet was amazing and very immersive. The sensory part was amplified by temperature and different floor textures. The water room was ok even with long jeans because I roll them till the knees. (in case you need it they borrow shorts for free too). After that, free clean towel were available to dry up and go ahead to the next room (the path was really intuitive- easy to follow). The universe-theme was clear all the way and very interesting.
I lived all my emotions freely and without rushing because there was no time limit in any room (we spent 1.5h inside). The staff was really friendly and helpful. Even the fact that there were few children was positive: some room were as quiet as they supposed to be experienced.
Too sum up: worth the money and really emotional. Recommended!

We (6 adults and 6 children) had a great afternoon! It was a visual and tactile experience. Air, water, mixed flooring...... it was a sensory experience like no other we’ve been to.
Tickets were purchased online for a pre-set time slot which made it very organised.
The food was well priced and good quality.

TeamLab Planets is right next to Shin-Toyosu station (handy, considering it was raining when I went) on the Yurikamome Line. The rental shorts are free (2 of the exhibits involve wading in heated water) and they provide free lockers and towels to dry yourself off after each water exhibit. There are about 5 rooms and passage ways in between with sensory experiences for the feet. Two of the rooms are similar to 2 at TeamLab Borderless, but it felt less crowed here so I could take my time and enjoy the rooms more. I booked a 10am - 10:30am time slot and there was barely any line then. Even with taking my time it only took an hour to go through and enjoy. TeamLab Borderless took me around 4 hours as it is larger and had queues inside for some exhibits.

A great experience for 1st timer.. We love the water area. Recommended for everyone who is travelling to Tokyo.
We enter at night (last entry around 8.30pm) and spend about 1.5 hours inside. We booked the ticket only few days before and looks like it is very popular, tickets sold out fast so please book early.
Slightly far from where we stay (We stay near Tokyo Sky Tree) and need to change train.
TeamLab Tokyo is just in front of the Shin-Toyosu station on the Yurikamome line, 1 minute walk or less.
Not much eateries around, we walk to the JAL hotel nearby (5-7) minutes walk to have dinner before getting in to the TeamLab, there is Family mart at the hotel as well.
There is outdoor section as well but they provided umbrella just in case it is raining (it rains during our visit) but mostly are indoor activities.
Check out their website for more details on the pricing and entry timing, they increase the entrance ticket starting 1st July 2023.

Would like to put 0 star but obviously we can't. This is a lighting exhibition for instagramer, nothing more. Save your money and go to real museums (well, if you like museum of course and don't need to feed your instagram). 45min for 6-7 visuals but, from my point of view again, not amazing/technique rooms and 3200¥. We could have paid less (and we thought we did) as we booked during a 30% discount period from 2020/09/01 to 2020/09/18. So everybody is concerned, but still, you have to put a coupon code or the 30% can't be considered!?!? Just get 30% off the tickets prices for this period and don't scam people who don't read the small texts (us, our bad) and trust that the discount is applied... It's like going to sales in a clothes shop with 50% on all articles, but if at the cashier you don't say "I want the 50% discount", they don't apply it. That wouldn't make sense right?! Then your plan doesn't make sense

I have very mixed feelings about this experience. The exhibit was fun and different and the creativity was impressive but the organization leaves a lot to be desired in terms of communication and crowd control. They WAY oversell the tickets for each session meaning we had to wait in line (in the pouring rain) for about forty minutes even though we arrived on time and had booked our tickets months in advance. Once inside we found out that we would need to roll up our pants as part of the exhibit involves being knee deep in water and that some of the exhibits have mirrors on the floor meaning they are not suitable for people wearing skirts. Whilst they had shorts available for hire I feel this should have been explained beforehand so we could have dressed accordingly. The locker room is extremely crowded and there is nowhere to sit to take your shoes on and off. The exhibits are also very crowded and the staff are constantly yelling instructions at everyone which detracts from what should be a calm zen like experience. This was the only place in Japan where we felt the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. If you are prepared for all these issues you will probably have a fun time.

Fabulous immersive experience. We took a gazillion photos the first time around, then dropped our phones and cameras in the free lockers and did it again. The second time we read the TeamLab notes on the artworks and discovered that we could influence some of the experiences, and really had fun doing it. A very enjoyable couple of hours. We took the opening shift 9am entry and this meant no waiting time in the entry queue. Would recommend!

This exhibition focus on experience, if you’ve read Dan Brown’s book the origin, the experience almost mimic the opening scenes of the book. You have to take off your shoes, your socks, and possibly in short, because you will be walking on water to knee-high, you’ll be walking on the garden, to literally use your skin to experience and feel the artwork. We do have to purchase tickets in advance, you can do it online or physically at the location. And there are two part of the Exhibition- water and the garden. Really fascinating。the word of cautious, if you are very sensitive to motion, sickness, I would highly recommend to take related medication before going in.

I think it will depend on the crowd that day.when you want to go. last June it was busy and we had to wait for our reservation time before we could enter.

Is this a place worth visiting as a childless adult? Or only good for parents with children?

Depends. I think if I would be a childless adult, I would definitely enjoy it, since the experience is quite unusual.

Honestly, I don't think it's good for children that young. I've only been to Planets (not Borderless) so I speak about Planets. I think a small child might even be frightened by some of the exhibits.

As user swisstraveller said, you can access the Uzu vegan ramen restaurant and flower shop (if it's open as it was closed when we went) without a ticket.
I dont recall seeing an actual gift shop there as such. Best use the enquiry form on their website and email them for definitive information.
