30 Min wait to see the pandas but it was worth it. Macaques, polar bears and an overall good selection of animals to see. Well worth the trip.

A zoo in the smack of the city. Very accessible and lots of things to see including pandas! It was quite a walk from the Ueno park so plan accordingly.

You need to get there early as the crowds are big. When you get in grab a time slot to see the pandas and be on time! Talk a walk to the east side as well.

Zoo has many kind of general animals. It's good place for children below 10 years old. Enter fee is about ¥600 for adult.

The zoo was slit of fun. The highlight were the panda bears. A few steep paths for those with disabilities. The zoo has lions, tigers, polar bear, elephants, gorilla, birds if prey. Great way to spend an afternoon

This zoo while cheap is old and rundown many exhibits way too small for the animals resulting in the most sad looking animals I’ve ever seen. It was heartbreaking to see how visibly upset some of the animals were.

Visited this for a short while, only to see the panda. The queue was long. It was snowing and we had to wait for 30 mins in an open queue. They can probably make a covered section for such situations. you can see the pandas...More

I couldn't stay, I pretty much left after half an hour as I found it quite distressing. The animals were listless, or scratching for food, although their cages were clean they were dull with nothing to keep them entertained or stimulated. They were listless and...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

In my personal view, this zoo should not be visited. I cannot understand anyone giving this a positive score - it is truly terrible.

Go on there website. No need to book unless you want to see red panda. Or there is a lottery you can enter to see for free but hard as a tourist

We used cash. You use an atm type machine to buy the tickets. It wasn't expensive to get in. I think it was 600 yen.
