Itoya is definitely for stationery fans, as it is 12 floors of paper, pens, cards, and everything else related to writing and creating with paper. It is organized by subject, so office supplies would be on one floor, cards on another, etc. Each floor is small, so the entire store is manageable. It is located on the main shopping street in Ginza, just up from Ginza station and easy to find.

Great place to buy Christmas cards. The first floor has unique cards.
If you like pens or paper go to the upper floors.

Over 100 years and 12 floors of expertise. This is more than a store. Marvel in a whole floor of specialty paper or drool over a pen selection for for royalty. They even have a cafe for refueling. It is a must see when in Tokyo!

It’s a wonderful store, 12 floors of goodness with another building opposite with pens and supplies.

We also had lunch at the cafe upstairs and that was very yummy!

Definitely worth a visit for stationery lovers!

Overall, the place has some unique items and a great selection of papers, although you'll find the more practical stationery in the 2nd building behind the first one. We made the mistake of reading some "reviews" that claimed the cafe served wonderful food. That's not true. The food was below average and extremely over priced.

Not for the usual tourist, this place is going to intrigue you and worse, if you are a stationery geek, empty your pockets in no time. We picked out so many unique items which are made in Japan and would make such perfect gifts rather than the run-of-the-mill souvenirs at airports and tourist traps. floor after floor of unique stationery.

The pen selection is excellent, and the staff is happy to work with you to figure out the fountain pen of your dreams, the right notepad for you, or the right paper for that special invitation. This shop is an institution and a real gem.
