Neighbourhood: Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. I went to KITTE in Tokyo Station for the first time in about three months and noticed that the number of foreign visitors had increased significantly.
To get to KITTE, exit the Marunouchi South Exit of Tokyo Station and it's right in front of you (cross the road).
This time, I had some time before meeting up with a friend, so I went to see an event that was being held on the first floor and also looked around the old post office director's office (open to the public).
After lunch, my friend showed me around the rooftop garden on the sixth floor.
It was a lovely garden with beautiful greenery and a panoramic view of Tokyo.

While the exterior retains its old-fashioned appearance, the interior has been renovated to be more modern. This time, I visited to eat at one of the restaurants on the 6th floor. The exterior is nice, but the view of the illuminated Tokyo Station from the terrace on the 6th floor is beautiful. I recommend it.

Upmarket boutiques and designer brands with lovely eateries. Located in front of Tokyo station. I would say worth a stop if in the area but don't make a special trip. Lovely building. Clean and well looked after but lacks soul post C-19.

KITTE MARUNOUTHI📮
"KITTE" is a building in front of Tokyo Station, which has the meaning of "Stamp"
and the meaning of "Coming" when translated into Japan.🤔
This is a building of "Japan Post" , but it is also a building that is popular with tourists as it has an observation space, shops, and restaurants.
The tree lights are lit up beautifully at Christmas, making it a popular spot for couple.📮🎄🥺

Located at the rear of the main station another shopping centre, if you came to tokyo to shop then worth a visit as quite a good shopping centre, but for me there are so many more things to do in tokyo without visiting another shopping centre the same as which you find in any major european city

I came here on a Sunday, as this PO is open on weekends. The very large post office is on the ground floor. There are signs to help you locate it. I spoke with two staff and they spoke English very well. There are bilingual English/Japanese forms for sending packages overseas. There are three shipping rates based on three modes of transportation; they can provide a delivery date estimate for each. They sold me a box, gave a brief overview of the bilingual form; then verified my completed form, weighed the box, sealed it, took payment and sent it on its way to Canada — so easy. And the staff were very friendly. My 4 lb box cost 1600 yen to send the slowest way.

We got trapped here by rain and discovered kind of a crazy museum inside with hundreds of animal skeletons, insect specimens, and an odd collection of natural history. There was a tiny tiny section with fascinating photos from the late 1800s of men and women in traditional dress. If the kids like bones and bugs, this is a great place for them.
The building is a decent spot, too, to catch a rest. There is a Lawson's in the basement in case a cheap drink or snack is needed and there are several restaurants, too. We ate at the miso soup restaurant.
Location is right across (diagonally) from the old Tokyo train station.

Sure the shops and restaurants are great, but there are already so many in and around the area. What I LOVE about Kitte is the rooftop garden with its amazing view of Tokyo Station! A must see.

A very nice shopping mall just adjacent to the Tokyo JR Station. A bit different from other Tokyo shopping malls, it doesn't exactly include lots of big fashion brands instead there are some local stylish stores selling lifestyle household products and modern designer items. Not luxurious but giving you the sense of local Japanese lifestyle which I like, they are not big names but just small tiny ones with its own styles.
It also includes a small JR museum with some introductions of the old Tokyo Station. Worth a look!

Is this shopping mall the one with the toy character street? Or do I have to exit the station to find it?
