Very nice and modern museum in town, just opposite to the Osaka Castle. There are a lot of Japanese life style in the old time showing, which make you realize how the Japanese lived their lives in the former times. The restaurant on the top...More

The building exterior is deceiving. There are only about 4 floors that you can visit. It’s informative and has some great historical references. However, it could have more artifacts and possible include more details on the daily lives of people throughout the different periods.

You can't miss this building; it is architecturally impressive and stands tall. You take the elevator to the 10th. floor, that is dedicated to the 'ancient era'. One below is 'middle ages', and so on. The Modern times on the lowest floor. It really fascinating...More

If you visit the Osaka Castle, it would be worth your while to visit the museum which is just outside the perimeter of the castle park. The museum pieces are intelligently curated and grouped according to time period.

Next to Osaka Castle this modern building holds a great multi level exhibition of Japanese culture mostly in Japanese but so translation. You will also get some great views of the castle grounds.

Has English descriptions and talks about the period from 5th century to modern Japan. A bit on the medium size side I would say and some signs don't have English.

What a wonderful surprise. Saw it a couple days ago as we were leaving the Osaka castle and decided to visit it since many other museums were closed on Monday. This had some life size displays depicting the royalty back in the Shogun days. I...More

This museum actually was better than expected - has a hands-on floor for kids (which we also did) and the guilds and volunteers are really friendly and knowledgeable. If you want to go into Osaka Castle (don't recommend) you can by the double ticket which...More

Very nice museum with plenty of diorama's and a lot of interesting things to view. Spend some time there and enjoy even the activities to recreate pots or puzzles.

Hi! I bought ours at the ticket kiosk for the castle. It looks like you can purchase at the museum as well. I guess it just depends on which you want to visit first. Have a GREAT time!!
