Very touristy and you pay premium prices for the same merchandise you can get elsewhere.
If you have seen the musical fountain at Sentosa Singapore, this night’s performance pales

I am not at all into shopping, and still, I loved canal city. There are so many quirky shops with plenty of "crazy" japanese things (I mean that as a compliment), there is a good fountain show with music all day long, every 30 minutes. There are cinemas, a gundam store, a hello kitty store, a pokemon store etc. Plenty of restaurants. On the 5th floor, hidden behind a parking garage (I know, sounds unreal), there is even a ramen stadium, with several ramen shops competing to get your customs. We had a great time there, and a tasty ramen lunch.

Canal city boasts numerous shops, restaurants (western and Japanese), food stalls, cafés and various entertainment facilities like game center, cinemas, and a theater. You can spend all day here. If you are here at an evening you might experience a fountain show. We came here many times and each time, we went to different shops and different restaurants/food stalls. The complex stands out with its size and extraordinary architecture. An artificial canal runs through the complex. On the other side of the canal, there were two hotels. Apart from the fountain pool and a floating platform in the middle of the canal, the complex impressed us with its characteristic curved architecture, balconies covered with ivy.

This place can occupy you for the whole day as there's a huge varieties of shops for all ages and plenty to choose for a meal or snacks. It is a huge mall with many lobby so need to know what you would like to see especially if you have small children or senior companions as it can be quite tiring for them.

This is a large mall (largest in FuKoUka)

Unfortunately we don't have time to Shop as we only stayed at Grand Hyatt, which are attached to the mall.

Do look out for the Big Screen Projection Show with water fountain Not Sure What are the timing but we manage to Catch the last showing at 9pm before the mall closes.

Will definitely stay longer to Shop the next visit to Fukouka

This mall is close to our hotel and situated in the old part of Hakata. There is a Ramen Stadium on L5 and you can choose the best ramen in Kyushu there. Of course they also have 2 stalls selling Ramen from Kyoto and Sapporo to compare its taste against the Kyushu ones.
There was supposed to be a fountain show every hour but on the Sunday we were there, a Japanese dance group performance took place there and they skipped the fountain show. I was told to go at night to see the fountain show with lights. We spent 2-3hrs there during lunch hour. Its a good place to go when it tains and you want to shop with the locals. In my opinion, this mall is much better that Hakata Station malls for shopping and less crowded. Will certainly recommend this place for shoppers.

Came here to eat ramen for lunch. There’s a ramen stadium here just like the ones in Sapporo and Odaiba, where a handful of top notch ramen eatery representing different prefecture are available.

Ramen is delicious and service is impeccable. Highly recommended.

Just a typical shopping mall with a fountain in the middle that dances along with the music. Place is not too big, not too small, not too crowded. Good to spend a few hours looking around. They have Franc Franc and Disney store.
