I visited the Maizurukoen on 1 and 11 Feb 2020 respectively. The plum flowers reached 60% bloom on 1 Feb 2020. There were more pink plum flowers than white plum flowers. I went there again on 11 Feb 2020. This time, the flowers bloomed 80%. White flowers got its prime this time.
Apart from plum flowers, you can also find narcissus blooming on the path leading to the park.
The park is now having the illuminating tree show every evening until 22 Feb 2020.

Maizuru Park in the center of Fukuoka City is a pleasant park to stroll in. Nestled on a hill amongst the walls of the old Fukuoka castle ruins, it has nice views. At the very top of the castle ruins a viewing platform gives 360 degree views of the city. It is at its best during cherry blosson season when thousand of locals picknick and get merry under the trees from morning to the following dawn. During this and other festival times, the pathways are lined with little stalls selling hot sake, yakitori sticks and other goodies, while highschool taiko (traditional japanese drums) groups stop at each picnic site to play a rhythm or two.

Really ruined so probably not worth going. Just a walk through of the whole place. Not much explanation along the way too.

These 2 parks in the middle of Fukuoka-town offer a wellcome relaxing change from the busy citylife.
Lots of beautifull flowers and trees and one BIG lake with a boathouse and a coffeeshop to take a break.

Get lost in the castle ruins of Fukuoka's Maizuru park and find yourself transported to times of old. following cable stone stairs and tree covered pathways. Experience the history, peace and beauty in all seasons. Cherry blossom, Plum blossoms and festivals, or just grab a hotdog from the local truck vendor.

During sakura (cherry blossom) this is the center of the universe, just unbelievably gorgeous. The rest of the year it's a good location adjacent to the castle ruins and Ohori park.

We have been there by mid of April and luckily, we still can catch up for seeing the Sakura. It just very close to the Hakata. The environment is very nice and you will feel very relax. We have bought some snack and enjoyed under the sakura tree which can see the sakura petals are falling off, the scene was so nice and feel relaxed.

I was there in November, there were a few pretty trees (in yellow). I enjoyed the walk around. There were a few people around, but most of the time I was alone. I enjoyed the walk as the weather was good. A few beautiful spots, but mostly trees that are either bare or still green. The people said the autumn is late this year, so haven't got the full colors of autumn yet.
I spent 2-3 hours there walking around and enjoying the place. If you like slow stroll in nice weather, you may like it. Nothing spectacular, but just plain strolling in a very safe and japanese environment. I enjoyed it.
