After the disappointment of Fukuoka Castle's Ruins, which they are, this proved quite a pleasant surprise - a leisurely stroll right through the middle of the Lake, admiring the wildfowl on the water, birds in the air, fish in the Lake, and people being silly in boats.
That Routing might prove challenging for anyone with Disabilities. There are a couple of footbridges which are quite steep and narrow. The Perimeter would be my commendation.

The park is huge, and a bit like the central park of Fukuoka. There is a lake where you can rent pedalos, there is a jogging track, a track for bikes, plenty of people walking, play grounds for kids etc.
Next to the park, there is a beautiful japanese garden (small entrance fee), which should not be missed.

This is a great city park that is just big enough to while away an hour or two strolling around the lake and over the islands. This appears to be a popular place to walk dogs and go running; I wish my own city had a park this nice. The lake has plenty of coy fish and water birds to enjoy. There is also a very nice Japanese garden just next door if you have the time.

Scenic, serene & definitely IG-worthy! It’s easy to access via the subway. You can just sit on one of the benches around the lake and enjoy the scenery. We saw some ducks, pigeons, fish and turtles as we crossed the beautiful bridge that led to a garden and a picturesque landing built on the lake. There were a few local bikers, joggers & tourists when we went there. It was worth spending the afternoon in Ohori Park.

A picturesque park to spend an hour or two. There is a small island and some bridges, so you can cross the lake in the middle of it. Lots of benches and toilets. If you feel like it you can even rent a paddle boat.

The perfect spot to soak in the atmosphere of Fukuoka. Lots of locals jogging and strolling plus of course tourists like us enjoying the park’s atmosphere.
We visited the Art Museum and Japanese Gardens as well - a lovely way to spend part of a weekend in this pleasant city.

This is one of my favorite parks. It's huge and beautiful. We rented a swan boat and it was fun. There is a walkway in the middle of the gigantic pond. It's a refreshing walk when you're tired of this large city of Fukuoka. There is a small Japanese Garden as well. Highly recommend!

I fell in love with the park when I saw the blossom of sakura and plum.
Additionally, the location of the park is very cozy.
The public transportation is very convenient though parking is very expensive.

Very peaceful, quiet, clean park with a lake, many trees and resting spots in it. There are clean public toilets available for visitors. It was warmer than I expected when I visited there, so I left my 2 layer of clothes in 2 different sections of the park before I run. When I finished my run, my clothes were still hanging where I had left them. So I can safe it is a safe place too. The running track was the best I've ever tried! (that's why I could win the segment of the park on strava :) There is a Starbucks in the park but I didn't visit it. I would only appreciate free wifi availability for the tourists' use within the park.

The best things in life are free! Ohori Park is an example of such saying! You can do a lot of activities and jogging should never be boring when doing it at a park with scenic views of the lake and trees. Must visit when you are at Fukuoka!

Will be visiting Fukuoka in December. Interested in the winter illumination at Ohori Park. What are the dates for this winter illumination? Would it be better to schedule a day or night visit?

If you do not mind a 2.5 hour train journey, Nagasaki is I find a very enchanting city to visit. It's of course famous for the atom bomb attack during WW2 but it was one of the few ports opened to foreign trade during Japan's period of isolation in the 17th to mid 19th Century so there are some buildings there with western influence. You can find quaint music boxes for sale on the street near Oura Church which is one of the most famous or the most famous Catholic church in Japan. You can find some recommendations on what to do in Nagasaki on TA or japan-guide website

I would like to ask if it is okay to held a wedding ceremony in Ohori Park?
Written 25 February 2016
Hi!
I checked homepage of Ohori Park which is written only in Japanese.
It seems that there is no permission is needed if you go there and take picture
in a wedding dress for example as long as it is not for business. As regards wedding itself, there are several location near Ohori park but it is expensive and I suppose you are not asking for such services but anyway i give you one example just in case
of ''les anger church ''. Under ''plan'' you can see many choices i.e. 1,458,000 japanese yen(about USD12,150) for 50 guests etc. Giving H.P.Address is not allowed by Tripadvisor so I could not do.
best regards
