This is an excellent tour that I have no difficulty recommending. The guide, Lee, is knowledgeable, personable and thoughtful, and shows a side of Fushimi Inari, and indeed Kyoto, that many don’t get the opportunity or think to see. I enjoyed this tour so much...More

We cannot recommend Lee's tour of Fushimi Inari enough. He is brimming with knowledge and stories; we left wishing we had recorded the whole morning so we could recall everything we had learned! The mountain and shrines were beautiful, and with the New Year crowds,...More

Wow! The reviews are great but honestly barely do it justice. Most knowledgeable tour guide I’ve possibly ever had. The mountain and shrines were breathtakingly. It is a bit of a hike so come prepared.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the Alternative Fushimi Inari Walking Tour!

It was not just an old fashion show-and-tell tour for tourists. It was a treat for all our senses and a wonderful learning experience. Lee shared a little bit about everything - mythical stories and philosophies; local perspectives on religious practices; the impact of historical...More

If you're thinking of visiting Fushimi Inari, then I thoroughly recommend this EXCELLENT guided tour! Totally different to other tours, following the flag and stopping en masse and straining to hear the prepared lecture. This was more like having a knowledgable friend show you leisurely...More

I was very impressed with Lee and this tour. He is extremely knowledgeable and really fun! We went to places I wouldn’t of gone to otherwise in Inari and I learned so much about the culture and religion there. I loved that he does small...More

We had an amazing morning st the Shrine. Lee took us to the most amazing places on the hillside, and he is so knowledgable in so many fields, whether it is religion, Moss, gardens or whatever you ask. Highly recommended. Eva and Atle

From the first email, this was professionally done. Clear map and directions were sent. We had a small group and although we started in the same place as everyone else, we walked off and saw many different things. I really enjoyed learning the similarities and...More
