Taken the kids and friends with kids to this park many many times, they don't get bored with it.
Parking can be a nightmare as on one side you only get an hours parking, 2 main roads with no parking and the other side has limited parking. That's the only negative about it!
Loads of activities for them to do... The usual swings and slides, a sandpit area for really small ones.
The water fountain is a hit too... Kids of all ages love to splash around although there's no where for them to get changed (before or after) into.
On occasions there's a small Thomas the tank engine style train that starts and ends at the top of the park. The lady who drives it is really friendly. It does cost though so take cash!
Outside of the playground area there are plenty of green areas for you to set up camp and play games/ eat food.
There's a lovely orangery too and the gardens are to be admired.
Near the Mellor road side, you can follow the stream and see some of the wildlife- down side is that it's been vandalised a few times too, which is heart breaking given how much time and effort has been put into it.
Finally, there is a small coffee shop that has toilets and serves a few bits and pieces, great if you haven't brought your own and you can sit inside or outside.
Overall, a proper little gem of a park.

I was visiting family in lancashire and i visited Stamford Park, i approached the ice cream van to buy an ice cream, i asked the man who was serving, for the ingredients for the icecream to see if it was suitable for vegetarian, the man replied to me in a very bad manner giving me a lot of attitude, saying he does not make the ice cream, another question i asked him was how much water Costs in that bad manner he replied saying £10,as i was about to walk of the man started swearing and i heard him calling me a KNOBHEAD.
I would NOT recommend going to this icecream man as his attitude stinks and the tone of his voice when there was other families an kids around!

Rant over... the parks facilities were very good they enjoyed them selfs, other than the kids not been able to have an ice cream Because of the man attitude.
I would give the park a five t 5 star rating if I didn’t have this bad experience with the ice cream van man.

Years since I've wandered round Stamford Park. Took 4 year old nephew today & we wandered around the park. Plenty to explore for an hour or so, followed by a pit stop at the cafe.

Park is lovely. Very well maintained. Lovely place to pass a few hours on a sunny day. The fountains are great for kids to run through. Just take a towel!!
Only issue is parking on a busy day. Can be a pain

I live really close to this park and am really fortunate to do so. It's got lovely big great areas with lots of little individual bits. So much room. Even on the busiest of days.
The kids play area it's just a big disappointment. Nowhere near enough swings or things to play on. The wooden structure, for some reason, it's even more useless than it was last year. Kids can't even play on it now.
For such a massive park why is the kids area so small and restricting? I visit lots of other parks and see such brilliant kids play parks i just wonder why that little extra investment isn't at Stamford Park. I will never take how fortunate I am to live so close to it but I bet really frustrated it doesn't do more for kids.

Had coffee and biscuits - biscuits were Border which are always lovely. Staff were efficient and almost pleasant. Clearing up, lowering shutters and stacking furniture at 3.30pm ready for 4pm closure. Not very nice.

I've been going to this place for years and I can confidently say Stamford Park is the perfect example of a good urban park.
A arson attack on the century old bowling club here led to a restoration of the club and the full park which is nearly complete. It has a fantasy like dingle stretching down its entire west side, which has a good path and is littered with the odd Victorian sculpture from when the park was first opened. The remainder of the place has everything a good park should have like, a boating lake, sports court, conservatory, big play area with a modern fountain for the kids to mess in, flower beds and plenty of wildlife plus more features like an asteroid and stocks amongst others.
It's well maintained and its bird sanctuary, gardens and conservatory are healthy. You could go to this park to relax, do sports, walk your dog, entertain your kids, see wildlife. It is a great Neo-Victorian park

Great for everyone.
Bowling green, boating lake, children's playground. Wooded area best to keep dogs on lead. Beautiful plants and flowers.

After reading recent reviews on TripAdvisor I was unsure as to how I would like this park, however I’m pleased to say that it exceeded my expectations. The park is beautiful - well kept, tidy and lots of things to see and do, especially for little children. My 1 year old son was really happy playing in the fountains, running around giggling! After reading about glass on the floor of the fountains, I was relieved to find that the floor was spotless - and I’ve been told by a Stamford Park regular that the fountains are cleaned every evening after the park closes.
I highly recommend this park to families with young children wanting a few hours of outdoor fun in a clean, safe environment.
Enjoy!

I’ve only parked on the Street, there is a few entrances, and is pathed so you can get about, cafe and toilets as well.
Written 12 May 2018
Yes dogs are allowed but on a lead although they are not allowed in the cafe, only guide dogs. There are tables outside so you are ok if the weather is fine.

Not sure if the lake is open to boating. every time I pass there doesn't seem to be any activity. may be different at the weekend. Historically it has never been expensive.
