In our new COVID-19 reality of helping to keep visitors and staff safe the wine tasting has moved from their beautiful tasting room to outside under either a tent or in a carport. Though the atmosphere is not quite the same - the tasting, the knowledge and the passion of the wines continues to shine.
Especially loved the Pinot Noir, the balsamics and fig jams

This was the first stop on Island Time Tours and definetly our favourite. The unique wines, the family feel, and the passion from our host (Garry) was amazing. The balsamic vinegar is devine. Support local! Buy from our vineyards! You won't regret it.

Dropped in on a recommendation from a BC native and not disappointed.
Shared a tasting which we appreciated as one was driving sadly!
Interesting wines really liked the mineral Sassi but came away with the winning Pinot noir. Would have bought more but visiting from uk and would be “forced” to drink it all here . Well worth a visit

The learning experience was great by our Host who was super passionate about the explaining the wines of this small winery. Each type of wine was carefully described on how it's prepared and the tasting was wonderful. Then came the other best part, tasting their balsamic vinegar and home made jams with balsamic. Absolutely lovely and delicious. Couldn't resist buying a few items here. Will come back hopefully soon.

My husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary in BC from Scottsdale, Arizona and stayed in the Cobble Hill / Cowichan Valley area. We visited many of the lovely wineries in the area but BY FAR our best experience was with Michelle at Venturi Schultze. Not only were the wines far superior then the so called 'big labels' in the area with the fancy buildings and friendly yet sterile staff but the hands on personal attention and learning experience we had at this winery with Michele was charming and a true highlight of our day!
I'm a true foodie and wine lover and you can tell that yeah they don't have the fancy multi million dollar tasting room because they spend their energy and time focusing on making the best possible product with love from the heart...you can just taste the passion in every drop! And the vinegar and jams are just icing on the cake. Michelle thank you for taking such good care of us. Your over 30 years experience shows through in the taste and your dedication to what you do and the stories are well...priceless. We hope to visit the area again soon and when we do we'll be sure to stop by.

Thank you for the kind words. I agree - Michelle Schulze is awesome, and I'm not just saying that because I'm her mum ;)

I went on a Sunday to go check out some wineries in the Cowichan Valley. I've been to a few and decided to check out Venturi-Schulze. I went in and saw they had a small party already tasting. They had two staff members behind the counter who never bothered to acknowledge us. One was cleaning glasses while the other entertained the other party. I went to the counter and again was never acknowledged or greeted, finally one of the staff said "I'll be right with you in a second" after about 7 or 8 minutes in the store. We continued to wait patiently, (the other staff member still polishing glasses). We waited another 8-10 minutes beside the tasting bar for a sample. They were too occupied with the other group and polishing glasses to bother with new customers. Sadly I can't even rate them on their wine as I walked out before I was offered any tasting menu or sample. My patience wore thin in my short 15-20 minute visit. Won't be going back. Too bad.

I just registered ownership of our small 30 year old family business with Tripadvisor and found your comment. Thank you for the feedback. Due to the size of our wine shop, we are sometimes unable to accommodate the number of people who drop by, particularly on weekends during the busy tourist season. We do our best to let people know what sort of wait they may expect; however, it's not easy to estimate as we like to give our guests time to ask as many questions as they like. I am sorry to hear that family members Garry and Michelle misjudged the wait time that day, resulting in to your disappointing experience. If you decide to head our way again, please call ahead and I'll set aside the time to give you undivided attention. Best regards, Marilyn Venturi

This was stop to yes try the wine but more for the vinegar. The fellow that gave us the lesson was very straight forward and although I am sure he would have loved to sell us a bottle of $100 of legacy balsamic, there was no pressure and no pretense of being better than anyone, just the facts about the process, the difference in the tastes and the explanation about the wines. A marvellous discovery, if you are heading from Victoria to Duncan/Nanaimo, this is a stop to make and learn

Thank you for the review. Garry has been part of the family for 10 years and has done every job that must be done to create our products: pruning, weeding, vine management, netting, harvesting, bottling and doing tastings in the wine shop. I'm glad you enjoyed his presentation! Best regards, Marilyn Venturi

This winery is itty bitty... and the personable service from Marilyn and Gary was top-notch. The wine is SO good (we did a tour tasting wine from 4 wineries and all 8 in our group agreed this stop had the best wine), the balsamic vinegar is to die for. Overall we had a great time here. My favorite wine of the day was the Cut-Cane Siegerrebe 2014 so I bought a bottle... sort of wishing I'd bought a few!

The winery is about 8 KM south of Duncan, CA and is on a side road that you should have your garmin programmed for. The wines are almost "one of a kind" varietals and definetly do not fall into the "cheap" category. Our host was Gary and I believe he is a member of the family; if not, certainly one of the workers of the winery. His expertise is very good and he can lead you in enjoying the wines At the completion of the wine tasting, you are provided the opportunity to taste their balsamic vinegars and to learn how to use them. Following that experience, delve into their jam offerings. Prepare to be shocked with the offerings, prices but enjoy the experience. In all the wine tastings we have attended, this was certainly the most unique and fun. Yes, he go my money..........

I registered my ownership of Venturi-Schulze with Tripadvisor today and discovered the comments, hence my tardy acknowledgement of your kind review.
Yes - Garry is both a member of the family and has done almost every job here over the years.
It is not possible for small estate-grown wineries here to make cheap wines, particularly those using labour-intensive sustainable practices rather than a chemical arsenal to achieve quality. Happily, after the tasting, it boils down to the very personal and subjective "is the product worth the price to you?" Many, including myself, do not have the budget to drink our wine on a daily or even weekly basis, but they buy it for special occasions or special gifts and we are grateful.
We make a range of wines (all sustainably grown here without pesticides, herbicides or irrigation) starting at about $16 (all taxes included). We like to include some of our higher-priced ($30 to $60) wines in the tastings that people would not otherwise be able to taste, as they would be two to four times that price if purchased in a restaurant. I hope to see you again if you return to our area.
Best regards, Marilyn Venturi
