We have explored most of Canadian wine country but had not really investigated those wineries on Vancouver Island. We had an amazing lunch at Cherry Point. It was slow cooked lamb in a beet and goat cheese salad. We had two nice red wines to accompany that. We also did a tasting with owner Xavier on a separate day, and had a case of wine shipped home. This winery is well worth the effort to visit!

I went with a group of girlfriends to experience a tasting at this local winery. We all felt the size of the pours was far less than is normal for a tasting - not enough to really assess if you like the wine and would buy a bottle. I don’t mind paying the $10 for a tasting experience if the equivalent of 5 tastings is about that of a glass of wine, but that was definitely not the case here. Just a dribble in each glass.
Also, we tasted from the same small glass for all five pours, with no water offered for in between, including between the whites and a red. Strange.
This experience was all further soured when the host scolded my friend for unfolding a scarf that was for sale so she could look at the full image on it, to see if she liked it enough to buy it. It was $130 so why would anyone buy something at that price without seeing it? It was very awkward when my friend politely apologized and offered to refold it, after which the host proceeded to watch us do so and then further critique that we were not following the original creases. Such a strange thing to do to a customer!

Most of the wine was good I think. It was hard to tell because the guy giving the tasting gave such a little amount that I couldn't really taste anything. He actually measured out to the ml how much he gave and it wasn't even close to an ounce. How can I taste that?? So I bought a bottle because there was a crazy high tasting charge and they still charged me the tasting even though I bought a bottle! Nice property but very old-fashioned and run down. I recommend other wineries around there but this place is just a money grab. It almost felt like a scam

Great wine. Marvelous, knowledgeable owners. Highly recommend. One of the best on the Island. It is a wonderful location, across from Saltspring Island.

Did the wine tasting first then ate at La Terraza. It was raining lightly so we ate inside. View of the vines and a nice quiet setting. I had the lamb and beet salad and my wife has the nisous (sp) salad. It contained pieces of eggplant and she said they were the best she has ever had. I would not have thought of pairing the lamb with beets, but I would definitely order it again. Open Thursday - Sunday. Make your reservation early!

Cherry Point Vineyards near Mill River.
Beautiful, secluded, and peaceful with hummingbirds flittering about. 2nd time here, but different owners, a Spanish couple, and amazing cuisine. We both chose Pan seared sockeye, topped with blueberries and perfectly prepared with a crispy skin. It was served with carrots, beet tops, peas in pod and zucchini, with a rustic bread and a herb butter. The server brought out another basket of bread when the first disappeared. Their wines were among the best I’ve tasted on the Island. Ortega, is grown throughout the Island as a cool climate grape This was different though, medium bodied and of greater intensity. Gitano was a wine I hadn’t tasted previously. Made from pinot noir, it was fruit forward and rich. Both paired beautifully with the salmon.
Dessert for me was chocolate ice cream garnished with local raspberries and whipped cream. Rosie had a peach torte with strawberries and whipped cream. Both were fabulous. We moved over to tasting room afterward with the owner, who guided us through his portfolio of wines. Xavier had travelled the world, making wine in Spain and Argentina before opening a successful restaurant in West Vancouver. When the opportunity to purchase Cherry Point Vineyards in 2008, he and his wife retired to Mill River and transformed it to a slice of heaven. We packed the car with a mixed case of Gitano, Ortega and Pinot Noir.
Go visit them for the wine, the fabulous food, and the stories of an amazing journey of life.

Beautiful setting. Wonderful experience. Service was excellent and the food delicious. Lunch of crispy sockeye salmon and a West Coast Caponata -- both very good -- beautiful presentation. New gardens in the patio provided great colour and freshness.

We ate in the outdoor garden but placed in the “cheap” seats as we had a well behaved dog with us. No placemats, cheap plastic chairs & table.
Found the food very pricey in comparison to others in the area and quality only average. Sandwich $20, soup 12,
Wine was just ok. Would not return

Great selection of wine 🍷. Host was great 😃. My sister and I both bought wine for my brother as a belated birthday gift.
