About
Visit endless camel caravans as well as the volcanic active Danakil depression: The active volcano Erta Ale has a constantly erupting lava lake in its crater, while ground water bubbles up to the surface in Dallol leaving a maze of mineral deposits in all colors and forms behind.

Both places were unique in many respects: incredible landscapes, scorching hot sun and powerfully charismatic local inhabitants. The organization of our tour by Binyam Leake and his team went very smooth. They took good care of us: the transport, food, guidance and lodging were all perfectly arranged. I am a professional photographer and traveled with a friend/colleague photographer to make landscape mages of both places. The team was very patient with us and gave us all the time and space needed to set up the large format camera and work in peace. I am overall very satisfied with the kindness of our team (a cook, two drivers, a guide and Binyam), with the relevant historical and cultural information we received from our guide Fishai and with the well organized transportation in this enchanted land. The vulcano is a wild and fierce place so take good walking shoes and something to cover your mouth and nose from the dust. We climbed the mountain at night, so a good lamp is also useful. Two camels brought our cameras and food/water to the top of the mountain.
At Erta Ale and at Dallol we teamed up with local Afar guides and police officers to guard us during our visit to the wilderness. July is a hot period to visit, not the easiest conditions maybe, but still possible. We woke up at 5 in the morning and worked until 10 in the morning. After that it was too hot to really do anything in the Danakil. But inside the air-conditioned car it was fine. Amazingly, there are people working on the salt plains in temperatures above 50 degrees Celcius. What a sight to see!

Never saw something like this. The geysers, the colors, the magnitude and difference in shapes... absolutely worthy in a surprising country

We’ve booked a two day, one night trip to the Tigray churches in the Gheraltamountains with Dallol Tours and Travel. We arranged it through Biniam (Atse Kalebhotel Axum). We liked his style. He was not pushy, he gave a good and clear explanation. When there was a fourth person joining he gave us a refund. Also the trip itself was well organised. We really liked it. The churches and environment are amazing and a must see when you visit Nothern Ethiopia.

I've known the owner of Dallol Ethiopia Tours for nearly a decade. During that time, I've had the pleasure of his company on many occasions, both informally as we caught up over a buna, or, more formally as it related to planning and/or guiding a trip. What stands out in my mind is his ability to arrange complicated logistics, suggest great itineraries and/or lend a hand or a laugh, always with an attitude of genuine caring, interest in you as a person, and good cheer. In particular, he organized and/or led a friend and I on two of my most favorite trips-ever: trekking/climbing in the Gheralta region with donkeys, and, a visit to the Danakil depression. If you are in need of any travel services in Ethiopia, I would highly recommend getting in touch with Dallol Ethiopia Tours!

I used Dallol Ethiopia Tours on a couple occasions between 2011 and 2014, and have had positive experiences each time. I met Benjamin (Binyam) traveling in the Gheralta range and then collaborated with him in the Adwa Mountains (near to Axum). He's knows all of Tigray very well, and knows most of the rest of the country as well. We climbed a beautiful peak called Samayata. His local knowledge is unmatched, and his English skills are great. I also went with my wife, Benjamin helped set us up with a vehicle, reliable drivers and insider information on Tigray and the surrounding areas.

This is my third trip to Ethiopia in 12 years and in that time I have meet many good people and many bad people (tour companies and guides)..
Dallol and it's owner Binyam have truly changed my view of customer service in Ethiopia. my original plan was only to visit the simin mountains with dallol (under a friend's recommendation) however after my trip to the simin mountains with my guide Merhawi and benyam I quickly decided to add another trip to the tigray rock churches and the danakil depression. Amazing is an understatement of the time I had. Our driver Hadush should have added comedian to his driving career because he had us laughing for more hours then I can count( driving was excellent also). Overall I cannot say enough about Dallol and the time I experienced with them. Thank you so much guys, I'll be in touch and will definitely be seeing you again soon. 😁😁😁

P.s I tried contacting Dallol tours through the link on TripAdvisor however the website was down so I called the number posted and got through. For future reference this is Dallol's email address (dallolethiopiatours@gmail.com)
