Visited as part of a guided tour and the shear size of this monument is impressive. The Buddha is finished and the views outstanding but the direct surrounds are terrible, rubbish and building materials everywhere. Watch out for the monkeys they are very cheeky and will try and grab your food. Worth a visit buy a heart and hang it... More

It was still on going construction. Located on the hill where you can see the Phuket view. I'm sure once it finish, it will be really good place to visit. Beautiful scenery and place :) when we were there at that time, there was a praying ceremony going on as well. Seems like they held it regularly, which is really... More

The big Buddha is well worth the time to visit, its big and well made, although still under construction its still easily accessible and there great views from either side. On the way up you will see elephants and monkeys. It looks like the money has run out so they encourage you to make a donation or buy a bag... More

There is still work to be done to finish it, but it is worth taking the trip up the mountain. Gives you a good view over Phuket. We went in the morning (9am) and was very quiet (also being low season). Worth including in your tour of Phuket.

Not so far from Kata area. After 10 minutes drive, we can see almost all scenery of Phuket beaches. The view was really pretty from up here. Befriended by the sound of chants from the temple, I felt such zen seeing the beauty of Phuket from the eagle eyes.

A truly amazing place to visit, after 12 years of construction the Big Buddha of Phuket is not yet finished, but is still a captivating experience. With a temple, alters and the chance to be blessed by a Thai monk.

The buddah was cool. The place was under construction when we went there but didn't stop anyone from seeing it On the way up there are a heard of monkeys who are funny to watch but we're very feisty. They would take people's drinks and food and I even saw one jump on an elderly woman to get from one... More

We commenced our 4D3N vacation in Phuket in July 2016 with an idyllic tour in the fascinating Phuket Old Town. The highlight of our city tour was Big Buddha of Phuket which sat atop one of the highest points on the island. At 25 metres across its base and a height of 45 metres, it could be seen from most... When we went there was lots of construction underway. Otherwise it was interesting with great views around. Disappointing to see so many elephants being abused for tourism on the way up the mountain.
